Sounds like gobbley-gook for 'we're keeping it for ourselves'.

Kinda sorta, but generally public officials can't pay themselves bonuses.

You have a hundred bucks for driveway repair, a hundred bucks for the electric bill, a hundred books for tuition, a hundred bucks for the mortgage, a hundred bucks for insurance, and they all seem to run short all the time.

So one of the kids has a lemonade stand and bake sale and scores 25 bucks. Kid brings it in, saying, "Look what I got for school money!"

"Great," you say. And you take that $25, put it in the school fund, and then lessen next month's contribution by 20 so you can fund an extra $5 for all five of the categories that continually run short. Even though the kid wanted it for school money. Well, you did use it for school money. You just - just - shorted what the kid had been normally funded up to that point.

Puts some teeth in the quote by Neil right below this, hey?

My state legalized marijuana a couple years ago. And it's taxed like crazy, just like the alcohol is. Our roads are still crap and our kids still have to buy their own supplies for school. Where's the tax revenue going??
Better be the national debt. :)
And I mean legalizing Marijuana Federally, Nationwide. So every state, the whole country, can benefit......in MANY ways.
I'm sick and tired of seeing normally law abiding good guy citizens spending good hard earned money under the counter on cartel pot for recreational and medicinal purposes.
I don't want to say much more, because I don't want to cross over the hot topic line, or argue with anyone one over anything. :)

One last thing about the copper and aluminum prices....it was a disappointment that my son only got a little over $12.00 for about the same amount that fetched him close to $40.00 not too long ago.

Prayers for everything to get better for everyone.

I think they were just pissed and wanted to start some crap!!! I'm still reporting to work and it's like a ghost town driving in to my job. I must admit that there has been peacefulness around the area where I live. It's like a hush has settled, but it's a bitch finding paper products!

In that sense yes but what i meant was that there was no talk of other parties, that, btw, are keeping a rather low profile since they seem to agree that we must go through this together and think it would be in very poor taste to make national politics of a pandemic. But of course yourr correct in so far as a politician everything he says and does has an impact on his standing.
Yes . . .indeed.

My sister-in-law's co-worker has six kids and the 9 year old daughter was having Coronavirus type symptoms, so they took her to be tested. She came up negative, just the plain old flu. But they still want her to self-quarantine for 2 weeks in case it was a false negative.
Hold all to remaining negative tests.

Strange days. The truth is hard to find and there are many conflicting analyses. Use common sense and avoid touching your face and most everything else. Wash those hands. Help your neighbours. Don't worry about money, as it'll impact your health even more. The psych is just as bad as the soma in terms of weakening your immune system, so wash that as well (with inspirational memes?). For those facing economic crises, I wish you the best. To those I have burned in the past, I apologize. On a similar note, I will practicing the 'urine' method of sanitizing, if it works for jelly-fish stings it only makes logical sense that it'll work for respiratory illnesses as well. Pee-se, mal
Exactly. I for one don't really trust hand-sanitizers, so I can't see myself pissing on my hands . . .besides, I have a horrible aim. I have never used hand-sanitizers because I don't like the smell. I think that yes, they kill the germs but they may more than likely leave the kilt! germs on your hands. I believe in soap and water. I have always been an extreme hand washer and I am even more vicious now. I'm not much of a hugger and if I don't have to touch anything, then I don't. I don't do much 'touching' of myself either . . .hahahahaa!!!!

I haven't been out since Monday but gas prices had gone down to around $2.79/gallon here. When I first got here in January, most places were at a little over $3/gallon.

I filled up this past weekend and paid $1.87 a gallon! I could not believe it! It's gone down because we can't go anywhere!!!! Where we gone' GO!!!! So sure . . .make the gas cheap just to tease us!!!

You do see the way Ms Mod treats me, don't you? Perhaps my coming here over and over again has turned me into a flagellant. ;):)

Crazy folks back then... but I thought the spread of the plague was caused mainly by fleas and rats.
Well, the fleas and the rats travelled with the people. If people had isolated themselves it wouldn't have been as deadly because the fleas that were infected attached themselves to the rats that were not immune but very resistent. And rats went wherever humans went. They were a usual sight. Its a fact that a few cities were smart enough to close their gates towards travellers for several months. And they often had a much smaller mortality. But they were exceptions. Some big cities blamed it, pf course, on the jews. Said that they poisoned the water and killed many of them. The most usual explanation was a punishment from God.
