Thankee for getting Marsha to talk. I remember those days well. I think I associated Marsha with one phrase--"stay on Topic". And how you guys managed so well to that! Paint, a rug, a spill, and on topic with The Green Mile.
Kept a notepad by side of computer- : name, post # . Then I could reply. Those times remind me of an adding machine tape. Scroll up and down, Find that post. Reread, reply. Darn---- miss those days.

It was important to me that Marsha realize that not everyone was one of "those" fans. That we were just regular people asking questions, making comments, being playful, reaching out on common ground.

We didn't want anything from her but her friendship.

When I first joined, I had been on a couple of other message boards before this one and had experiences of getting bombarded with religious messages after accepting a friend request. So when I joined this board, JD instantly welcomed me (as he did with everyone) and I refused to acknowledge his nice note because I thought I was going to be told to repent. :) A couple years later, I told JD about that and he thought that was pretty funny.

Something I'm quite happy about from the very first threaded board.

Marsha never really talked to anyone. Once in a blue moon, she would answer a question, but mostly it was other posters answering things. And the scroll would go a couple hundred posts before the answer would come up. You had to keep track of post numbers.

I was determined to get Marsha to talk. In the things she did say, I knew she was smart and had a sense of humor and that was something I could work with. I had a mission. It took a bit, but finally she started playing with us. More voices talking to her drawing her out. It made everyone smile.

Success!
So it's you I have to blame for it? :)

The more we asked questions to each other, about SK, books, and finally "life" the more input Marsha had. Her sense of humor was always spot on. It was a new MB, and we were all feeling our way around. I remember once asking FlakeNoir if it was ok to join into a conversation with "the down under folk". I learned so much about other cultures from our international Tet.

Yes! I've learned so much from people from other countries. I love it.

And it's also been interesting to see regional personalities from the U.S. and how very different that can be.

A few moments that I enjoyed here. When Marsha opened the Cantina Deux, we blasted through the first dozen or so pages in a week or so, excellent. Also, the Halloween story was a lot of fun and it was great to kick it off, plus King Kurb's banter was next level on that thread.
