I've read 33 books of sk and only 1 I didn't really enjoy & that was tommyknockers. It's in 3 parts and I loved the 1st part and last 30 pages or so but the rest was ugh.

I just finished ls and not really up there imo. But about half way thru I started liking it more. The 1st half I was reading just to get done with it, but I have a couple suggestions that might help u enjoy it more.

I did some research on constant readers thoughts and a common theme whether they liked it or not was it was a departure from his norm. So 1st suggestion is don't start it with a premonition of kings style. Think of it more as a book that was a gift or something and a unknown author. I think if u go into it with a blank slate will be better for you.

The 2nd and bigger one is leading up to it prepare a little. What I mean by that is, and I think the reason why it took me half the book to get into it more, the 3 books I read before LS were two Michael connelly books and a David baldacci. 3 thrillers. So basically I read around 1500 pages of page turning thriller. LS is definitely not a thriller. The pace is slow anyway and after reading those 3 it just inhanced it even more bc of what I was used too. So before u start it read something with more drama or something. If it's gotta be king definitely not thinner ect.

I think if u do those 2 things u will have a better opinion of the novel when finished. Sorry for the length just my 2 cents bc I see quite a few members agree that they didn't like it. Any feedback on this good or bad is welcome. Thanks guys. Now going to start another dark tower. Yeaaaaaa buddy

Seeing "LS" in lower caps threw me off momentarily. I did not know what it meant (since I saw the "L" as an "I"). ;-D

This looks like a good advice, since expectations may be different from what we get in this book, so it is better to come in without them.

In my case, it helped to get away from the book for half a decade until I was a different person, one who totally loved the way Mr. King shows the life of Lisey as she mourns Scott. The first time I was simply too young for it, I guess.

Spot on- I have found many SK books that were first read in youth, to have a fuller meaning later in my life. LS was right for me when it was published and I consider it a favorite.

I am struggling a little to get into this one. Mind you I struggled with Dumas Key until Wireman was introduced and then I loved it. Maybe I just need to wait until a few more characters get going.
