...I'm not missing any such point...it doesn't strike me as much more marquee than any other cover...I'm not shatting on your enjoyment of it, but the only statement it makes to ME is "unimaginative"....by way of example-here are a couple of covers that I personally find evocative and well done-and despite the author's stature, draw me to the book...

There was another SK cover that consisted of just type. There may be others, but this is the one that comes to mind first.

I think, as "boring" as that one may seem - it was alluding to the ties it has to DT and the Crimson King (I think I've read that somewhere, I hope I didn't just make it up ).

I like the cover myself, not real picky when it comes to covers I just like collecting as many editions as I can afford to. I'm just happy I have 2 new novels to look forward to, and have plenty of time to get caught up on the few I missed out on while I'm waiting.

Living in FL- -which was once known as the lightning capital of the US-- lightning can be rather impressive/striking not only to the eye, but the body and soul too.
After re reading King's description of the book, I have a suspicion that the cover may have a hidden meaning. Note- the use of the word Strike/ striking is his description. Can't wait to read this book!
Revival is a period piece set in the mid-20th century about faith and addiction. Here's King's full description of the book:

In a small New England town, over half a century ago, a shadow falls over a small boy playing with his toy soldiers. Jamie Morton looks up to see a striking man, the new minister. Charles Jacobs, along with his beautiful wife, will transform the local church. The men and boys are all a bit in love with Mrs. Jacobs; the women and girls feel the same about Reverend Jacobs -- including Jamie's mother and beloved sister, Claire. With Jamie, the Reverend shares a deeper bond based on a secret obsession. When tragedy strikes the Jacobs family, this charismatic preacher curses God, mocks all religious belief, and is banished from the shocked town.
Jamie has demons of his own. Wed to his guitar from the age of 13, he plays in bands across the country, living the nomadic lifestyle of bar-band rock and roll while fleeing from his family's horrific loss. In his mid-thirties -- addicted to heroin, stranded, desperate -- Jamie meets Charles Jacobs again, with profound consequences for both men. Their bond becomes a pact beyond even the Devil's devising, and Jamie discovers that revival has many meanings.
