Wondering if anyone here subscribes to Shudder. I wanted to know if it is easy to hop on and off the subscription (i.e., can you just let it lapse or must the company be contacted). I plan on subscribing maybe for a few months (to be fair to the over-the-top service) but then stopping. I just basically want to watch Creepshow. Of course, if the episodes are available for digital purchase simultaneously I might do that instead. I also was curious if there are subscription cards that can be purchased instead of using a credit card. Have not seen any in the gift-card racks near me (like I do for Netflix etc.).

I think the show is this week. Hope all the episodes are released at once! (I imagine they won't be.)

Shudder isn't available here last I checked. I'm also not sure if they put their original shows on blu-ray. If I would subscribe depends on the costs and what else they're offering. But basically apart from Creepshow I'm not so interested in getting another service.

I can get Amazon here though, so if the Dark Tower series goes ahead and it looks good, it will probably become irresistible for me not to get a subscription - if there's something you really want and it comes into reach, you always get it sooner or later.

A positive reaction to the episodes shown to critics. I agree that it's very much the visual side that makes the original Creepshow so good. The stories by themselves aren't all that special in terms of plot (and some don't make sense or are underdeveloped: how could that creature in the crate stay alive all that time without ever feeding?), but it's the imagery you remember. And it is the great job of all the actors that seals the deal. The performances of the actors in the original all have exactly the right tone for the material.

I wonder how long the episodes are.

I forgot to say that the simplicity of the original Creepshow stories is on purpose I think, because the EC comics that inspired it have fairly simple storylines and are just a few pages long for one individual story.
Still, The Crate is the most beloved generally, and I do think that's because it's longer. It just builds suspense more because it takes its time.

Another thing that made the original Creepshow iconic is some of the dialogue lines. Just like in a comic where on occasions you will have a bigger speech balloon with bigger text that stands out, so Creepshow has these quotable lines.

Thanks for creating this thread, by the way. I didn't know this show existed, but I'm really enjoying it. I think it's very loyal to the original, and it features stories that haven't been adapted elsewhere. I've actually been very impressed by the effects so far.

I don't know about the Sudder service's cancellation policies but if you get a Roku streaming device, you can do all of your subscribing and canceling and payments for any service through their website. All you have to do is click a button on their website and you're done. No whining person reading a script to listen to. :)

Marty Coslaw You are welcome. Great to hear the good word on it. I hope to subscribe soon to watch.

fljoe0 Thanks for that tip. I think I need to get into Roku, sounds like a good device.

GNTLGNT I like your zombie take on Uncle Sam, but can't actually like the post because it won't let me for some reason (i.e., cursor won't change into the hand icon). Great for Halloween...

The overall reception seems to have been mostly positive. I get the idea that it has a very old school feel. There are only six episodes though. I wonder if and how soon it will get a dvd-releae. Not too many people have Shudder, I think, as not that many people have rated the show on IMDb. Since it's such a familiar title and King is involved I can't imagine sooner or later a wider release won't follow - films and shows based on SK have the tendency to show up on dvd sooner or later. The question is though: how soon in this case?

I saw that the Creepshow Shudder series will be available on AMC, the cable network, for those who subscribe to that through their cable package. It might be for a limited time, I'm not sure. I want to say it will be on May 4, May 11, May 18, two episodes per night. I don't know if Shudder has ads on it or not, so that might be one drawback to watching on AMC. Also, I wonder if there will be any censoring. My bigger concern is if it will be on video on-demand...I tend to prefer watching that way, but no big deal if it isn't, I just don't know how the presentation will be. I was going to subscribe to Shudder to watch it, but kept procrastinating, as it is a pain to set up new accounts, etc. Plus, I noticed the home video release is coming in May. But now, I'll check it out in a couple weeks.

I watched the first tale of the first episode of Creepshow. It was "Gray Matter." Pretty good. I think the monster at the end was changed from the description in the story, but that's okay.

I was wondering, for anyone who may have watched both on AMC and on Shudder - was there a lot of editing for the cable version? Seemed to be a little, but I wasn't certain. Also: was anything cut out for time/ads, perhaps? I ask because it seemed as if the filmmakers were about to tell the side story about the spider in the sewer that appeared in the print story, but then the show went on. Curious if maybe that was actually in there somewhere. Maybe it's a deleted scene?

Also, I should mention I think I was wrong in my previous post...I think one episode will be on those three nights. So, the entire series may not be shown. Not really sure. Might make sense if this broadcast exercise is synergistic and meant to send potential subscribers over to Shudder. And, I believe it could be promotion for the upcoming DVD. Anyway, will watch the second tale later, and I look forward to the rest of the AMC presentation of the series...

I completed watching the second tale, which I believe is called "House of the Dead." That was superb. Better than "Matter," but I really liked "Matter" as well. I'm just saying "House" was really good. It gave me the creeps, actually (of course, I was watching late at night). It also made me want that doll house! I wish there was a doll-house version like that - upscale design, etc. - of Laurie Strode's house from Halloween. For those who saw the episode, imagine playing around with figures like that...placing Myers in a room waiting to stalk characters? A merchandise possibility...be great for Halloween-time...

I get the same and have learned to live with it. I think the site update was meant for phone screen or different browsers. I've tried IE, Chrome, and Firefox, but no go. That's the worst isue however, the fact that you cannot 'like' certain posts (usually because a pasted pic is too large and transcends a set space limit, rather than automatically expanding).
