I agree. Aside from Watchers, Strangers, and the first Odd book, I can never remember what I read even a couple of days later. Even Snow started to fade away after a little while. He's an easy read, and I generally enjoy the books, but they just don't stay with me. It's weird.

Same here. I like many of his books but they don't stick with me long. I'm always amazed at how much I can remember from Stephen King books that I haven't read for 20+ years but with some other authors, I don't remember much at all.

I call Dean Koontz my airport/airplane author. His books have a great pace and they are easy to read and I find them easy to read in those situations where there are distractions all around. Maybe the fact that I've read most Dean Koontz books on an airplane has something to do with why I don't remember them. ;-D

I just finished "Innocence".
Not sure what to make of it.
The story pulled me in just enough to not put the book down.
It never fully explained a lot of the questions it posed and the twist/reveal towards the end of the book felt a touch rushed and abrupt.

Some of the writing at times was really good.
I loved the way that Addison's thoughts and opinions played out on the page at times, but ultimately I felt the whole thing fell a bit flat.

Not his best.

...I've seen that before and yeah, it's a little Messianic-but the points he brings up are good ones...he shellacs it kinda heavy at times but his impish sense of humor balances it out...

I have been trying to go through his catalog of books and read the ones I haven't read. I bought False Memory recently. There are probably forty others I haven't read. When I was at the used bookstore (which had every title of his in stock) I was a bit overwhelmed. Out of his newer novels, do you have any suggestions? Besides the Odd books and Christopher Snow books, that is.

*btw, you may know this since you get his newsletter but Wikipedia says The Husband is going to be a movie. Did you like that one?

I like his point that we have to acknowledge evil if we ever hope to "stand up to it". Ignoring its existence doesn't do anyone any good.

I went to 2nd and Charles twice last week. I'll add that to my list. I want to get all of Straub's Blue Rose books and any of McCammon's Matthew Corbett series. Fljoe has inspired me to pick up John D. MacDonald's books again.

Some of the Koontz books I have my eyes on:
From the Corner of His Eye
Tick Tock
The Face
The Husband
The Taking
The Darkest Night of the Year

Any of these any good? I'd love to read some of his old ones again, too. Like listening to a song on the radio, certain books take me back to where I was when I read it, where I bought it, what was happening in my life.

The only Koontz book I really like is Intensity. Have you read it?

No, but I want to. You may have mentioned it once or twice. I read Velocity which is similar, as I understand it. Doesn't it have a serial killer in it?
Yes, but Velocity was terrible, IMO! Every paragraph was 2-3 sentences long, like a first-grade reader. That was his last one I read, and then I vowed, Never Again. Horrible, just awful.

Intensity is very well plotted with believable characters and one of my favorite scenes about which I will cry every time I read it.

Yikes, don't hold back. ;-D

I loved it. Maybe I was in the right mood because I ripped through it. He's just entertaining to me. If he can keep surprising me (regardless of his let down endings) I'll keep reading.

I gotyou, dumlking. If you liked Velocity, then you're in for real treat with Intensity. I hardly ever reread, and that one I've read twice.
