Marsha- I wanted to start a thread just for you so that myself and others can write down our thoughts and feelings to express how much you have meant to us here on the SKMB. We don't have much time left now. Mere days. That's nearly not enough!! I really cannot express in words how much your friendship has meant and means to me. I'm am so happy that our life paths crossed, that I was able to meet you in person and give you that hug that I kept threatening you with. I hope I didn't squeeze too hard! I will always cherish the memories of the time we spent in Montana. It was such a treat to see you in the flesh and spend time with you. I want to thank you for letting me come on here, express my thoughts and share my joys, laughs, anguishes and tears. You always had a tender word or held out a helping hand when I needed it. The virtual hugs helped too!! :D You've been the heart and soul of this board (along with our other Mods) and because of it this place became a wonderful place to come to everyday, chat with friends and have some laughs or shed a tear or two over the trials of others. There will never be another place like the SKMB! I will hate to say goodbye to you and my other friends here when the time officially comes. I will always, always cherish you, Marsha, and I will hang onto those happy memories forever!

I will close this with something that you know from the Carol Burnett Show:

I'm so glad we had this time together,
Just to have a laugh or sing a song,
Seems we just get started and before you know it,
Comes the time we have to say 'So long'.

The first time I ever posted here (also my first post ever on any kind of board thingy) of course rather than read the instructions for newbies I decided I would start my own thread. It was a from a bucket list I made after my father passed away (ask Mr King a question about a baseball play that bothered me in Blockade Billy, ask Michael Jordan for my $9 he owes me, yada, yada, yada). Anyway the first responder to that thread, I believe, was Ms Mod. she didn't know the answer to my query but was patient and polite in her response. (Still waiting by the way for an answer :p). I took a hiatus from the board for awhile until my heart attack. While rehabbing and with nothing but time on my hands at night I rediscovered this place. Ms Mod as well as almost everyone I came in "contact" with here welcomed me back like an old friend. I can honestly say this place played a big role in my recovery. I have often taken a few liberties with the truth while posting and I would like to set the record kinda straight in this post. First I really don't live in a doublewide (not that there is anything wrong with that, thanks Jerry). My first wife and I built a 2800 square foot home in 1991 that she still lives in. I am here too. We have three children, one still in college. I farmed all my life until the heart attack. Currently I am a full time custodian/yard man for a local high school. I umpire, give pitching and hitting lessons and still do have 30 cows I look after. Yes Michael Jordan owes me $9 from 3 games of nine ball played in the year of our Lord 1981. Yes the University of North Carolina accepted me and my parents money for 2 1/2 years before they invited me not to come back. Something about my GPA. And finally I am in person very similar to my posts. Smart alecky, borderline racy (OK sometimes I slip over the border) and I really do love women.

Whew that was long for a confession huh?

I wanted to let all who look after or contribute to the SKMB know how much this place has meant to me. By letting me "meet" new people while I was basically a shut in it provided an outlet in my boring routine. All you people mean a lot to me and I have never seen any of you in person. I want to thank Mr King as well. I will never meet him (he's a Yankee after all who is a Sox fan what a combo ) but he has provided me with hours of enjoyment since 1980. Also this place doesn't exist without him.

Thanks for basically saving me.

Great thread, for my part I just want to say it's been a pleasure to talk to you all over the last few months, some of the interactions between Dio and Ms.M. have been hilarious and have had me in stitches. Thanks to all the Mods who have the gift of the patience of Job, thanks to Jordan for keeping all things technical running smoothly, a huge thanks to Marsha for all her kindness and courtesy and endless patience, and thanks to the man himself Stephen King without whom none of this would be here. I'll miss the place but I have had the great fortune of making some new friends here and that's worth it's weight in gold.

June 30- shuttering of the SKMB rationalized into that is a full month plus of fun. Reality hit yesterday when seeing the magical number 19 taking on a new meaning. 19 days--- so little time. I think my heart did skip a beat. Today, that becomes 18.
Marsha-- "Motherator" , guide, friend. Words can never express the feelings appropriately. You became such an important part of my life. I look back and realize that you were always there through so many changes in my life.(20 years!) Both the good times and bad. Words of kindness and caring, even guidance when needed. A highlight and treasured memory was our meeting, in humid FL. A night that meant/ means so much to me. You are truly an amazing lady!

I'll miss our little daily chats. I'll miss this family. I am so thankful to Stephen King for giving us this unique meeting place. I found my dearest friend here.
You, and the other Mods always kept us "on topic". Can not tell you the belly laughs and smiles some of your replies brought to me. Just seeing a Marsha response could brighten a dull day. I say thankee. I say thankee too for pushing SK to finish the DT- it was getting so old sitting on the mono!!

Ok, an old crabby lady here and tears are now flowing. Guess that is allowed at my age. Thank you for all you are, for all you do. My wish is a wonderful retirement- crafts, family, good health and good books ( and maybe a few of SK ones that you have never read-). May the "delete finger" rest easy. Always remember to be POOH. I wish you love and only green lights. :love_heart:

Sometimes one has to look at the good side of change. After June 30th I’ll be free to run wild on the interweb without having someone riding my back, keeping me in check. But she’ll be missed, nonetheless. It has been fun doing battle at times with someone almost my equal. ;):)

Over the nine years I've been here, I've met some of the best people I've never actually met. I've met Scott, GNT, who along with John Dalgish, is that spelling right, Scott, I can't quite remember sir. Scott and John were the first to wish me well and welcome and although Mr. Dalgish went to the clearing at the end of the path far too soon, he and Scott were a great welcome to what quickly became my favorite place to hang out. Ms. Mod also sent me welcome wishes and her ability to simultaneously keep this place civil while not loosing her mind has been a constant source of amazement to me over the years. Stephen King picks his people well and he could not have picked a better or more competent person to run the SKMB. It was in good hands before I ever arrived here and it's remained a wonderful place to visit all thru my years here because Ms. Mod, Tery, Flake, and DJ do their very best to keep it a place we can all be proud of. The mods give their time freely and put up with remarks and and comments that often make me shake my head in dismay, so I know it has to affect them also. The mods are fans of SK as much as the rest of us and they're also real people just like the rest of us on the SKMB. I think some forget that, it's easy to do when you're behind a computer screen, but it's true and they should be be treated accordingly. This place runs smoothly because of the mods, and the mods take their lead from Ms. Mod, Marsha, the person who keeps the peace here, who has allowed us to keep this wonderful community sacred and make it such a nice place to visit in good times and in bad for many years.

Ms. Mod, Marsha, you are the true north of the SKMB, the person who sets the standard for this haven of SK fans, the person who offers a kind word or a word of warning, both always delivered with tact, kindness, empathy, and always with the welfare of the SKMB in mind. It has been a privilege and an honor chatting with you, reading your posts, and getting to know you over the years. Stephen King knows how to choose his people, of course he does, he's the Dinh of the SKMB, and you are, and have been his most trusted gunslinger. When it's time to turn in your guns, when you retire to start the next chapter of your life, know that you've done great work here, never think you haven't, you've made a difference in all of our lives and the connections between you and the rest of us will not break once the doors here have been shuddered. Those connections go beyond the SKMB , they are part of the ka-tet this place has become, and YOU have made those connections possible and continued to steer a true course come what may. When things are all said and done, Ms. Mod, take a minute to reflect and know how much we all appreciate you and what you've done here, how much we appreciate the kind words, the encouraging posts, the patience you have with all of us. These things do not go unnoticed, they are all part of what makes you the perfect person for this job, what makes you a gunslinger. Thank you for everything you've done here and everything you continue to do. You are the essence of the SKMB and we say thank ya.

You guys are making me cry. Please, please, though, don't make this about me. Dana Jean FlakeNoir and Tery deserve the kudos just as much. They have given just as much of themselves to make this place what it is. They've reined things in when necessary and taken the undeserved abuse that came with it. They've also given praise and solace and humor to show folks that compassionate side of our humanity that seems to be sorely missing these days. We are more than our ideologies if we could just remember that.

You all have become such a huge part of my life and it's not just a cliché to say, it won't be the same come July. I may be saving money on Ibuprofen for the headaches but there's been a good side, too. :) I wish I had had the opportunity to meet more of you in person and ka willing, that could still happen for at least some. There will be water if God wills it.

Love you guys!
