Hello.
So far I haven't found any place that would offer the answer to that question. In the afterword of Volume 6, published in 1996, St. King discusses the possibility of making a single-volume version of The Green Mile, wondering how he could lose the installments element. So I'd really like to know how he made it in the end: how far did he alter the original text (including the various goofs he was aware he made in the making)? Thanks in advance . . .

Thanks to the Look Inside feature on Amazon.co.uk regarding a 1999 Orion edition (978-0752826752), I could get a glimpse of the introduction, and indeed St. King writes he finally did very little changes -- and wishes he'd rewrite the whole thing. Indeed that edition even reprints the afterword of volume 6, where the author wonders if and how he'll ever publish a one-volume version . . . /:-\
