Oh wow, Doc Creed - I have never heard Eudora Welty's voice before. That was wonderful. I just love her - that genteel southern lady's voice. What a world we live in where you can hear that like it's brand new. Thank you for sharing!
You're welcome. It is incredible that we have access to such a rare video. My earlier comments were extemporaneous and clumsy, but I could go on all day about her writing. I do remember you telling me you were a fan. If you haven't read her novels, I would recommend The Optimist's Daughter or Delta Wedding.

Just finished re-reading this.

My first introduction to Joe Hill was Pop Art. This was before I even knew that he was Stephen's son. Had no clue. And with that story, I realized there was an unbelievable talent giving us a gift. I hadn't connected with someone's writing in such a powerful way in a long time. But the language, the story, the people populating his works demanded my attention and respect.

Joe doesn't waste one word In 20th Century Ghost. Every single word is meat, no filler. Efficient. He makes every word count. Joe draws you in and makes you feel at home by using our own memories to engage us as participants in the story with his pop references. Just like his dad. But better. I think Joe is a better writer than Stephen. There. I said it.

20th Century Ghost is beguiling.

And, Imogene was right; Fantasia isn't a kid's movie.
