I am going to open up the discussion a little bit early. My granddaughter is here today and will be getting picked up at the time I wanted to start. But I will be back right after she gets picked up!

This has always been one of my favorites in this book. I like how the dad is telling his kids the story of how the Jaunt came to be, as they are preparing to go. Trying to calm them down. Mayhap he should not have been so cautious in telling about the mice, maybe then the son would have not tried what he did. You think?

It is a brain twister to think of the physical part of a person making it through just fine, but the mental capacities being completely ruined....in the same minuscule amount of time. One part practically instantaneous, the other part left wondering and wandering for what seems like eternity.

This is always a fun story to read. The first time is always the best, when you do not know what is coming, but it does not lose much at all on rereads.

Ok, comment away!!

Late here-- lost power this afternoon for a spell and playing catch up-

OK, agree with Tina the story telling part was so special. This line is a heart stopper-- "It's longer than you think".
The idea of being trapped, in an endless void, only your mind tape playing------ just beyond comprehension.

I think, being a boy in his youth, always wanting to know the unknown, he would have tried it even if his dad had made a stronger point about the mice.

Did anyone feel a DT connection? Todash Space-- as described in the DT-- a void that exists between worlds.

Tery -- will there be a reading group discussion for tonight, or should it be delay til next week due to the Kon?

The Upper Berth by Marion F. Crawford.

I was thinking about that. It may be a good idea to delay it. Not sure how many of us went to the Kon, though.

Can a Kon attendee chime in here?

I can only speak for myself but I have a feeling most are still recuperating or winding down from the excitement and the travel, so I will bow out of this one for tonight.

I think maybe you should carry on with the discussion while it's still fresh in your minds :encouragement:

I'd be interested to hear how you like it!
