I read this story when I got the book back in 2015 or whenever it was released. I read it again last night. The Alzheimer/Dementia angle is sad because my mother was afflicted by it. She would also say sometimes when I visited her at the nursing home "Who are you?". This story is more about memories than the incident that happened at the intersection with the 4x4 truck. I can't remember if King said in the intro if he got the idea of the 'mug' part of the story when eating at some place called Applebea's. And he got the 'handle' part when he saw an incident involving two cars at an intersection. I also heard an interview with Michael Caine on the radio about a month ago and he mentioned he used to own a restaurant in Florida. Really, this story isn't about Batman and Robin, it is about father and son. I like the part how the father mentions how he had sex with that woman down the road and that it sought of hurt the son's feelings. I also like the part how the father said to the son 'Look at the birds outside( on the dumpster in the carpark) as an excuse to steal a knife in the restaurant.
