Just dropping in to let you all know I won't be able to be here tonight. My daughter has a band concert, so we'll be at that. I look forward to reading everyone's comments and chiming in later or in the morning! Oh, and I got my daughter to read it to, she is about 30 pages from the end of part 2 but I will get her thoughts too! :applause:

That's okay. I am actually sick this evening so I too will have to postpone all the things I wanted to say. This thread is still open for comments and discussion. I'm sorry for bowing out of this installment. I have been enjoying reading this again. Thanks.

Sorry you are under the weather, Doc Creed and GNTLGNT !!! Healing vibes your way!! (Soup and cookies, too, as needed!!))

As mentioned, pure magic! This has always been one of my very favorite stories. In parts I and II we start Jack's journey - his first interactions with his mother and Speedy, seeing the lady and Osmond, getting trapped in the pitcher plant of Oatley, a refreshing break in the Territories, his evolving as he hitches many rides. He escapes Morgan at the rest stop and meets Wolf. Oh, dear Wolf! My heart swells with the love that he had for Jack! RIght here and now! The time in the shed, where the minutes stretch forever, then Wolf returns and part II ends.

Those of us doing a re-read know what awaits us in part III. I cringe inwardly to start it, knowing how my heart will be touched and torn.

Mr. King and Mr. Straub blended their voices so effortlessly in this tale. An epic story and I look forward to reading all the comments as they pour in. I know this book means a lot to many folks on this board.

May all be well and all manner of all things be well for each of you!

I'm reading this one for the first time (currently in Part III). I love Wolf, but I'm trying not to get too attached. With King and Straub, I know they're going to rip my heart out.

I mean, how can you not love Wolf? Even as a bloodthirsty werewolf, he still had the heart to bring Jack small woodland creatures for sustenance. Now that's friendship!

This is a favorite of mine, as well. It has been a while since I reread, so details are fresh again for me. I am remembering a lot of my feelings from the first time I read it.

It has that fairy tale type feel for me, which is a big reason why I love it so. And it feels Dark Tower related. Jack and Jake look very similar in my mind's eye. They always have.

And Wolf. :love_heart: Right here and now! Wolf and Tom Cullen are related in my mind's eye. Yet another overlap of worlds.

Alison said she is really liking the book. She said Wolf is her favorite. I will try to get some more in depth commentary from her today. I know she is enjoying it, because she has been so busy with school work, she was only about 50 pages in, a week ago. She brought it out Monday and was 30 pages from catching up, so she zipped right through those first 2 sections very quickly!
