Oh yes. A few here in my county.
Hi Doc! Great to see you here!

Okay - confession time - I only had enough time to begin the story (where he has to write a speech etc.) The introduction is good as well - he talks about how his son Owen was afraid of the 'library police'

It began as what was supposed to be a humorous story and somehow turned darker (he said).

I look forward to finishing this one later but right now I have to go out to take advantage of the good weather. Andy wanted some snap beans and/or pea seeds to grow up a trellis so I go in search of same.

Arrivaderci for now! :thumbs_up::m_bye:

Hey, friend. "Pleeth" tell me you'll finish it. (You'll get that later.) ;)

I think it was Ms. Mod who mentioned the 'Friends of Bill' as another name for Alcoholics Anonymous, on another unrelated post. I read this story a few months back and found the 'Friends of Bill' reference in this story.
Good catch. It still amazes me how many clues, easter eggs, foreshadowing one misses in a first read.

I also took note of the similarities to IT and I highlighted this passage as well...

There's somethin not human, some it hidin inside her skin, and I think I always knew that. It's inside...but it's forever an outsider.

Maybe an early inkling of what would become The Outsider?

This was like reading it for the first time for me, except for the scene with Sam and his Library Policeman. I did remember that and it put me off wanting to reread this story. But there is a lot sweet and tender in the story, too. The budding friendships between Sam and Dave, the relationship between Sam and Naomi/Sarah starting from just a work relationship to something more.

It is also a scary story, taking something we all love, the library, and putting that suggestion of something really bad is going to happen if your books are late! It gets in your head.

I did enjoy this story a lot more this time around. I had only read it once before, when the book came out.

Interesting about the outsider. I didn't catch that one.
