I like Night Surf but it is very bleak. There's not much hope in this one. I was looking at the Wikipedia page and this story was originally written in 1969 and revised later. I wonder how much of The Stand Stephen had rattling around in his head when he wrote this?

Do you think Needles lied about having A2 and there is some hope or are they all doomed? I have a feeling that they are all doomed.
I think Needles lied. And they are probably doomed. But, maybe someone could survive it. But, would they want to in a world all alone? That would be hard.

This reminded me of Eugene from Walking Dead. He lied to get someone to protect him. To stay with him because he wasn't a valuable fighter, so why would someone want his dead weight? So, he made up a story to be important.

Needles lied so he could join the group.

Great descriptors in this one, Stephen is so good at those. I love a good description.
