Back to Twittering:

Twitter must have been pretty new when Joe wrote this since at the beginning of the story, he had to explain to the reader what twitter is. :) I liked the story and liked how he told it from the disgruntled teenager's point of view (through twitter). It's kind of a funny and gross story. Joe perfectly captures the mood of the teenager that doesn't want to be on this family trip. I think I was a disgruntled teenager a few times myself. (without the zombies, of course).

Interesting story.

Yes, very much a teenager stuck on a trip with her brother and dweebie parents. And they go to a "circus" that sort of reminded me of what Medievil Times restaurants are like, minus the grog and turkey legs.

It also spoke to our 140 word attention spans and everything is a show. She's twitting "help" "danger" "f**k!" and I'm sure the people on the other side were reading her posts and yukking it up and talking about themselves and making up their own personas. Shallow, false faces.

Their squirrel focus darting to the next shiny post.

A family dies and the twittering doesn't skip a beat.

I missed commenting on this story. It is a great little story. Everything going along, seeming normal and then boom! I had the whole crew from Rob Zombie's movies, House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects in my head as the ones running the circus. :D

The first time I read this story was a few years ago. I was on my way out the door to pick up one of the kids for a dentist appointment. We had recently replaced the doorknob on our front door and the "lock" position of the little doohickey was the opposite of the previous knob. Plus, the inside knob turns freely even when locked, but the outside knob does not....I was not used to these changes yet and locked myself out of the house. :facepalm_smiley:

Had my purse and my phone but no keys. So had to call the dentist office, then the school, and then oldest son. Sat down on the deck steps and read this story on my phone while waiting on son to come unlock the door with his key. It was springtime and not cold, at least!

Just a little side note, nothing to do with the story except that memory of being locked out of my house will always be tied to reading it.
