If you skip Wizard & Glass you will not appreciate the full impact of what happened to Roland and his first love, Susan. You'll miss out on a look into his formative years. You will also miss out on one of King's best villians- Rhea Of the Coos. She is one evil b*tch!

You can do it but Wizard and Glass is divine. Save it to read in the future if you will. Go on to the next one though. I read The Drawing Of The Three before I read the Gunslinger. I was glad I did actually. I did not fancy the Gunslinger at all. You are in for a treat when you read Wolves....oh yes, indeedy do! The very best. It is the berries!!!!

I agree, read the books in the order they were released.

Wizard and Glass is an amazing book, I wasn't too sure going into it when I realised it was basically one big flashback to Roland's past ...but as with most things King related I was soon convinced lol.

I know this is an old thread and Stephen has probably finished them all by now, but I would not advise skipping a book. Yes, wizard and glass is mostly set in roland's past, but the start of it is the continuation of the blaine the mono climax. Wastelands ended with a cliff hanger, for this reason I would say book 4 is only one you couldn't skip.
