Liberty and Slavery: The Paradox of America's Founding Fathers

Everyone who screams about the Constitution should watch this show.

These men were not Gods. They were imperfect human beings and they made mistakes!
Ooh, is this on Netflix?
Ne’er mind—it’s not on Netflix, but is included in Amazon Prime video. : )

I ordered Finding Joseph I from Amazon. It’s a documentary about the lead singer of Bad Brains. I read the book that accompanied it. Haven’t had time to watch the DVD yet. This guy is brilliant but completely off his rocker. Every time the band was on the verge of a mainstream breakthrough he’d do something to sabotage it.

Arthur Miller: Writer

This was good.

I would love to know SK's thoughts on writers such as Arthur Miller, Gore Vidal, William Buckley, Norman Mailer and so many others. Writer's and social commentators of their day with big personalities. I wonder if he met any of these guys? Where? When? Why? What happened in their conversation?

Maybe these people get mentioned in Hearts in Suspension as they would have been very active during Stephen's time in college and as he was growing up.

O.J. Simpson: The Lost Confession

I agree with Chris Darden, he confessed to murder. I can't believe that this wasn't used in the court case and Chris Darden is the one who fought against showing it. He said, paraphrasing, "if I knew that this is what the interview was about, I wouldn't have fought so hard to keep it out."

Don't attorneys look at all evidence? Why didn't he watch this interview back then? When Regan was actually speaking with a murderer. Why wasn't he interested in what he said? Was Chris Darden a plant to keep O.J. from getting convicted? I mean, he is the one who introduced the gloves and had OJ try them on, giving the world "If they don't fit, you must acquit."

Interesting interview, interesting panel discussion about the interview.

The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling - Judd Apatow directed

If you're a fan of Gary Shandling, this is a must see. Judd Apatow and Shandling were friends (Apatow was a writer for Shandling's TV shows too) and Apatow crafted this documentary from Gary Shandling's journals (which Gary Shandling gave to Apatow). The documentary uses the journals to personalize and tell the story of Gary Shandling's life and career. There are a ton of hilarious clips and interviews with fellow comedians.

It's on HBO right now, so if you don't have HBO, you'll probably have to wait a few months for it to get to one of the other streaming services.

In His Own Words: HBO's Intimate, Astonishing 'Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling' : Monkey See : NPR
