Interesting.
I didn't know that they even sponsor High Schools with a gym and more than $30,000 year, just to get their drinks machine set up.
And the antagonist ? He asks a guy, that lives near this school, if they can rent a part of his yard, to set up his machines, because
it's a place the kids meet or pass by every day.

Dana Jean I'm starting the third episode of The Disappearance of Madeline McCann. It is very detailed, almost to the point of being overwhelming. But, I will stick with it. I sure wish they knew what happened to her. And I agree 1,000% about not leaving the kids alone! I think that's a big part of why some thought they might be involved.

Isn't it weird about their dinner companion checking on the McCann kids but never actually looking in the room? Maybe it's addressed again at some point, but that seemed off to me.

Me too. I always wondered if they checked the other families that were with them. I'm not sure how much you want me to say. But I am not satisfied with what answers I did or didn't get.

Oh and yes, very detailed. I thought the doc was very detailed and thorough.

I just saw on my MSN feed today that the McCann's are not happy with the Netflix doc. They feel it is an ongoing investigation and it gives too much information. Personally, I think it reaches more people with the story. More chance of someone remembering something or being able to fill in a blank for them. But that's just my opinion. I don't have a little girl missing.

I also didn't realize she had that very distinct eye. That would certainly help identify her if she was ever spotted, even many years later.

Made me appreciate him a little more.

Natascha Kampusch

So sad and scary.

The Miami Showband Massacre

Just an absolutely horrible name for a band.

This is about The Troubles in Ireland and a band of Irish lads who traveled from one area to another to entertain. They were ambushed and the surviving members seek answers. Educated me more about that conflict.

Binged this one over the last few days. I thought it was a good documentary but it ran a little long. I think they could have made it into a few less episodes and still got the point across. After watching the documentary, I tend to think the parents were negligent but not complicit in the abduction. What I can't figure out is motive, and why that little girl? It would have been easy to get the pattern down of how often they checked on the kids if you were sitting across the street as far as what would be your window of opportunity but again, why that family, why that child? I think the person responsible had been watching that area for a while and may have conducted extensive surveillance on that resort because the timing of the abduction was too good as far as getting in and getting out without alerting anyone. Strange case for sure. Good pick on that one DJ.

Totally negligent.

In the doc, it states that when they booked the rooms, they wanted to be able to eat dinner close while leaving the kids in the room. It shows that very clearly on their booking and apparently that book where this information was written was visible to anyone. Not only staff. So, all someone had to do was watch the party a couple days.

I think it was a pedophile ring. Very very active in the region and probably paid very well for a little girl. The babies that were ignored were too young and too difficult to deal with. A little girl who can communicate and understand is a very easy target to frighten into silence and compliance.

Unfortunately yes, I have to agree with you on that. She may still be alive but has no idea who she is or what happened.

What did you think about the private detective agencies they got involved with?
It seems like they interviewed every person who ever came in and out of the resort and their cousins, uncles, pets, but it all seemed to not add up to anything. Some of the PI agencies seemed a bit unscrupulous but I don't blame the family for hiring them. The police agencies there seemed pretty incompetent from the very start of the investigation.

If it had been my kid, I'd still be down there looking for her, making a complete nuisance of myself until someone talked...oh yes, someone would talk....

A BIT INCOMPETENT?

Oakley International took a lot of money from these people and didn't carry out any investigation. Making false reports. Supposedly he had investigators in the Algarve and there wasn't anyone. He set up help lines, and then didn't follow any leads. They scammed the McCann's and their wealthy benefactor!

The first guy with Metodo 3 I think was trying very hard to find her, but his company was just wanting the publicity.

And yes, the guy with Metodo 3 was in some hot water for his practices, but privates eyes don't play by the rules. They bend them to get answers. Something the police can't do. Or aren't supposed to. So, some of his techniques for getting information may have been a bit -- creative. But I do believe he wanted to help.

I'm betting there wasn't a lot of rules at all down there as far as how private investigators conducting their investigations. The family seemed pretty upset with local law enforcement from the outset of the investigation. I don't think any of the local LE departments had any clue how to run an investigation of that magnitude.

No, the locals didn't know what they were doing. But, Oakley was a United States group labeled as "big boys" in private investigation. Supposed Former FBI, CIA, and M16 agents working for Oakley led by Kevin Halligen.

He threw out false information, false hope and took their money. He told the family he had access to satellite video of the town the night Madeline disappeared. Which means, they would have pictures of the guy taking Madeline from the sky. He showed them google map images that aren't taken on a daily basis and anyone can look up on the internet. What? None of the stuff he said they were doing, were they doing. He made it look good in the beginning and just generated documents that meant nothing. He finally fled to Rome and was found dead in his mansion in Surrey.

I personally think and this is just my opinion, that the local cop and the guy in charge in the Algarve, who led a dismal and embarrassing investigation into this case, Goncalo Amaral, is part of the pedophile ring. Bumbling cops pretending still get their palms greased. He was up on charges in another child case and was arguido (named legally a suspect) in that case. At the same time he was investigating Madeline's disappearance!

I am such a damn cry baby! I wear my heart on my sleeve absolutely 100%. I beg all of you people who still have elderly in your lives, ask them questions now. Silly ones. Scary ones. Interesting ones. Important ones. Weird ones. Ask them about themselves and their lives. What they thought of things in history. What they thought about neighbors and schools and politics and religion and pantyhose and roast beef and potatoes and ant hills. ASK THEM BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. This documentary had me bawling. And longing for my people. I miss my people.

Charles at 70

I really enjoyed this and it made me appreciate the older Prince Charles. Even Camila wasn't as obnoxious as she once was.

I was a Diana fan, but that doesn't mean I was immune to her faults. She had some serious issues. But, she was from a weird family and was too young to enter this fishbowl. I do believe she loved Charles and bought into the fairy tale just like the rest of us. I do think she was a loose cannon for the royal family. Was she targeted and killed, or was it just a horrible accident?

I think Charles was a total dick to her, BUT, he was forced to marry someone he didn't love. That is a shame. They should've just let him marry Camila to begin with.
