I am of the mind that the music should be able to stand alone, because he was such an influence. But I wonder if I will feel the same after watching the new documentary.
In most cases, I can separate the art from the personal issues. I watch Roman Polanski movies, Woody Allen movies and listen to all kinds of musicians with various disgusting behavioral allegations against them but the MJ allegations are on a different level and that doc makes the separation of art and allegations very tough.
I mentioned Woody Allen above but I'm really starting to have some trouble separating Woody Allen from the art these days. For years, I kind of brushed all that off as viscous fighting between exes but I don't think that was right and Woody has gotten much creepier to me.
