If you've seen the movie, I've got a question. Is the movie Christine super faithful to the book (Enough to spoil it)? Because I'm fine with reading first if it is, but I'm also eager to watch the film if it doesn't ruin the novel, also because I'm not getting my copy in some time.

The movie is pretty faithful to the book. I can't remember if there's anything that's changed. Oh, I think in the movie George LaBray's brother isn't even mentioned. If anything's different it's minor. Plus, the movie has Harry Dean Stanton in it so you can't lose!!

I agree with KRF. The only other differences are the ways in which some characters die and the omission of other characters' deaths. Most of the omitted deaths happen at the end and don't affect the outcome. To me, it's always an advantage to read a book before seeing the movie adaptation.
Also, I agree with others that this is a faithful adaptation, all things considered. It's interesting to note that when the movie came out, the book had not yet been published.
I'm not sure if this is true, it seems like Carpenter had filmed it before Christine was published but released it months later.

I found this info on Wikipedia page for the film:
Filming began in April 1983, merely days after the King novel had been published.[8]

This thread reminded me that someone recently told me our local library is trying to ban this book.
Because of a sex scene?
It's been so long since I read it, I don't even remember that part. The person who told me is somewhat sketchy and unreliable, so I'm hoping it isn't true.

I don't remember a sex scene in this particular book. Now, I'm curious, LOL. King has said that he doesn't like writing sex scenes, in the first place. He tells a hilarious story of his abject failure at writing erotic literature for skin magazines during those early, salad days. :D

Christine had a boyfriend, a 1957 Chevy Bel Air and there was a scene where they played bumper cars in a parking lot but I don't think it was graphic enough to justify banning the book. ;-D

I told you the source of the info is a wackadoodle! Am glad I didn't completely space out a steamy part of the book! ;;D

There is a very quick scene between Dennis and Leah (I believe at the end when they're waiting for Christine to show up at Darnell's?). It's not even graphic at all.
