No, the film is great. I prefer the book, as it is far more detailed and in-depth, but then books and films are such different mediums.
I love the film too, it captures the main characters brilliantly. I would have liked to have seen more of Arnie's parents and more of Leigh
and Arnie, more of the Le Bay storyline too, but it's still good. On a daytrip the other day, visited an op shop and picked up a first edition hardback copy for a mere three dollars. Thanks lil town of Warkworth. By the way, I would love to own a 58 Plymouth Fury rather than my trusty but gas guzzling VW Golf, in midnight black!! Just another ordinary hunk of junk.

I never actually managed to see the movie, though there are bits of it on YouTube. I am reading the book though, about 3/4 of the way through, give or take.

IMHO, the book doesn't spoil the movie one bit. The movie spoils the book. It RUINS the book, because you are SO disappointed in the movie version after reading one of the best King novels ever written! The movie, as much as I "liked it" ok enough, SUCKS when compared to the book!! The movie is SO different than the book, they are almost two different ... and too different. I wish CHRISTINE would be remade with the FX teams and CGI that are available TODAY!! Mr. King, if you ever read this (haha!!) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remake CHRISTINE exactly as you wrote it!! The junkyard owner's death in the book, and the mayhem leading up to it, and ESPECIALLY afterwards, was never portrayed correctly in the movie. That alone was a HUGE disappointment for me. Will Darnell, the junkyard owner, in the movie version, dies too easily in the movie, and is a a copout. But I guess given FX for that time period, there is no way to portray it as such in the movie at that time period it was made. The BOOK version is so fantastically devilishly portrayed, all these years later, having read that book cover to cover dozens of times over, would be worth the price of the admission ticket alone, to see that brought to life TODAY! Again, Mr. King ... PLEASE remake CHRISTINE as you wrote Her !!

No movie has ever spoiled a book. Read the book. Watch the movie. You'll enjoy both.
The movie would spoil THIS book. The book is so different. Of course, books are almost always better than the movie version. The junkyard owner's death in the book and movie versions are so different they dont even compare at all. " Oooooooo!! He gets crushed behind the steering wheel "!!! Oh puh-LEEZE!!
