Space glasgow seemed alot like the wizard and glass setting, with the large snow globe on the horizon, under the red glow. We just need the thinnie warbling through the air.

Could i be warming to Capaldi?

Reactions to the season finale...........
Absolutely loved it. Cried in so many places. In interviews, thought not yet cast, the new companion is being referred to as "she".
What season is it where Peter Capaldi starts as The Doctor. I haven't seen that whole season.

He appears at the end of 2013 Christmas Special- Time of the Doctor, and takes over in season 8 (2014) and this season = which just ended- season 9 (2015)
I need to watch 8 and I recorded 9. My favorite doctor was Tennant, but Matt Smith was so sweet and vulnerable. Wasn't sure about Capaldi so just drifted.

Capaldi is different, older in not only age, but "feelings". Keep with it, I think as it goes on, you'll enjoy. True to the writers, gets confusing at time, but all comes together eventually.

I loved it. All but one thing.

how those two girls are suddenly besties just seems wrong? I read somewhere
the two of them travelling together is a new spinoff
I hope not. And I loved
Clara even when she was Dalek

Capaldi and Eccleston are my two favourite doctors. I've only watched from 8 though. The others, some I've seen a few shows, but none that I've seen a lot.

Thanks for the link you sent me, Spideyman. That helped explain things a bit for me. I'm still not sure I'm liking this incarnation of the Doctor. The whole show doesn't have the same vibe for me and I'm having trouble getting used to it. I like Capaldi better now than I did at first but Tennant is still my favorite. One thing I haven't figured out and maybe someone else can explain to me--
is there something we're supposed to "get" about his having/playing the guitar in so many episodes this season?

The spinoff is just a rumor, and we don't even have a "maybe" from the people in charge.

All Doctors have their quirk. Capaldi's is his guitar-playing. This isn't even the first time it's been an instrument; the second Doctor played the recorder.

I like Capaldi a lot. Tennant combined a really great portrayal with some dang awful writing of the character (there were moments of brilliance, but too few, and his final hours were an insult to fans of the show).

If I were to rank the modern Doctors, Tennant might actually be last. Smith is still my favorite, with Capaldi catching up. I think Eccleston should have stuck around longer; he really had a lot to work with and I loved his portrayal of the Doctor.

Thanks! I thought I was missing some symbolism or clue about the guitar.

I missed a lot of the earlier Doctors as I only watched now and again. Some of the early episodes were almost laughable to me with the special effects even given the technology of the time so wasn't able to give it a serious try.

This may help some-

The Doctor’s instance on playing loud heavy metal guitar and teaching people from the past to use the word “dude” has affectionate echoes of the movies Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, in which two Californian hard rockin’ teenagers round up characters from history in order to help them with their homework. Their method of travel is a phone box, so it’s safe to say the feeling is mutual.

The guitar also became a continuing "thread" to the conclusion of it's use when playing Clara's Song in the finale. The music of the guitar was the "story"/ memory.

Another thing about the guitar; Peter Capaldi actually is a musician. He had a band in the 70's called the Dreamboys, and he was the guitarist and lead singer. Among their members was former Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson.

Just saw that in one of the articles Spidey linked to. I figured he must know how to play as it didn't look like he was finger-syncing (faking it). :smile2:

I was going to say this.

It just makes us love him even more.

Had to check YouTube. The first is a recording of Capaldi's band, with still pictures and words. The second is an interview....and it's so cute. Similar to when it came out that he had sent a fan letter to Dr. Who as a kid.

so how does the diner tardis work for you?
if the doctor and clara are sitting in the diner and the diner turns out to be the tardis
how come clara can then walk into the next room which is actually her tardis.
what part of the tardis is outside the tardis if the whole diner disappears around the doctor?
shouldnt the diner doorway have been the entrance to the tardis????
and not the broom cupboard that clara walks into ???

Get me???
