I got a bit lost when I watched the first episode of Class... I kept saying What? Who? Where did these bad guys come from? I had to look up the cast to get everyone straight lol. I havn't given up on the series yet... I like the idea that the walls of space and time have been stretched thin by the Doctor and his time traveling, allowing aliens to break through. If the reason that the tears in space were occurring at the Coalhill school was explained, I missed it :(

Who has been watching and do you like the way this season is heading?
I have been watching. I missed Capaldi's first season, so not sure if this is a good thing or bad? I still have the last episode to watch. Is this Capaldi's second season?

I know he's getting ready to change? do we know yet who the next doctor will be?

I'm watching. I don't feel like it's actually "heading" anywhere.

I do like Bill.
I tend to think the first episodes were heading towards an arc that began with the last episode. There are secrets to be told. I also have a strong feeling that the earlier doctors, what they did, who they were, will come into play. Just a "feeling". Long time writer leaving..........

I thought the 3rd and 4th episodes were a bit too R L Stiney (lol, that's a descriptive term, right?) I was afraid the season would continue with the same sort of stories but the 5th episode was wonderful! :) It answered questions from the 1st episode and it was much more Doctor Whoey :)

I'm wondering if my recording cut off?

The Veritas

With The Doctor asking The Doctor for help behind the doors, did we not get a resolution to this episode? Or maybe I wasn't focused. I understood the episode, what was going on, but so what? What got fixed/resolved?

Dr. Who is among my most favourite tv-shows ever (my most favourite is Buffy), but it is sometimes hard to tell how good it is, while it is going on. Episodes you didn't like at first often get better with repeat viewings. I suppose it has to do with that it's not always a simple show - some concepts can be hard to grasp on first viewings.
Some episodes I didn't fully 'get' at first now are favourites, like 'Hide', which I absolutely love.

"Doctor Who" Hide (TV Episode 2013) - IMDb

My favourite Dr. Who and companion are Tom Baker and Lalla Ward. Since the show restarted in 2005 my favourite doctor and companion are Matt Smith and Karen Gillan - although I love Billie Piper and Jenna Coleman a lot too.

I felt the Capaldi era started brilliantly with Deep Breath and I liked the first two seasons on the whole. So far I'm not so impressed with his third season though. Not so much to do with Pearl Mackie I think, who is very likeable, but the stories just aren't so strong, but I say it with great reservation though, as it's Dr. Who and, like I said, in retrospect episodes nearly always tend to get better with repeated viewings.
If indeed the quality of the show is going down, it's maybe a good thing there will be a new showrunner and Doctor - even though Moffat is responsible for my favourite era of the modern Dr. Who with the Smith/Gillan period.

I also think the title theme is the best of any tv-show ever. I remember as a child I even found that music scary and didn't dare watch. I finally watched it because it was on for the last time and I was too curious (it was the Tom Baker era most likely) and I loved it and regretted not having watched earlier.

Actually, when I think about it, Oxygen, was probably the best so far this season. With Dr. Who the episodes that are on board on some space-ship or space-station, when it's at its most sci-fi, always work and are always good.
As far as settings go, I also liked Thin Ice.

But then Knock Knock, which I expected to like, disappointed me, the story was just a bit simple, there wasn't much to it. Smile disappointed too, nice setting and idea, but it just didn't come together totally.

Had to watch the Jack Black Goosebumps movie again after I saw this post.

I'm not familiar with the books or tv-series (even though they were translated and aired here), but the film is nevertheless fun. The story is very simple and not very original - the monsters escape out of the books - but the monsters themselves are fun and the film has a lot of action. Especially the gnomes are great. This movie has very much the feel of a Joe Dante movie.
The plot is weak though: why did Stine keep the typewriter at the school for example - this is never explained.

There's also references to SK. Someone says to Stine: 'Stop trying to be Stephen King.' Stine than boasts that he has sold more books than him (don't know if this is true?).
Later when Stine takes his typewriter to write a new ending, he ends up in the school's auditorium where the stage is set for a performance of The Shining.

Now I want to catch that movie :) Stine has written a BUNCH of books... probably more than Koontz even lol.

R.L. Stine has written over 300 books, he says himself (don't know how recently he said that). But I think his books are quite short?
Koontz around 80 en King around 70. On the whole King's are longer than Koontz'.
But with writers like this figures about the number of books are always gonna be very temporary.

With regards to the current season of Dr. Who, the episodes of two of its best writers, Toby Whithouse and Mark Gatiss are still to come. Whithouse's is up next and Gatiss' the one after that.
