Yes, my bad, there was the Wind Through the Keyhole. Because I read the DT so recently, I see connections in subsequent stories I'm reading by SK. Wonder if the chiming when Danny from The Shining goes into his trances is a kind of to-dash. Conspiracy theorists might say all SK's books are just the embodiment of "there are other worlds that these." :) I like mulling it over just the same.

After reading the Shining, I see connections. There are 19 steps the mom has to climb at the end of the novel. The little boy in the book, Danny, has qualities that breakers have in DT. When he goes into trances, he hears chimes the way to-dash can have. Minor references, sure, but I'm convinced that the references are DT-related even if not directly.

Blue car syndrome. You can pick any author's work and find nineteens in it if you try hard enough. 19 has a very definite and obvious origin.

Blue car syndrome, perhaps, but it's worth pointing out King does indulge himself in his novels from time to time. He references DT in so many of his books that it's not out of the realm of possibility that he is making DT references in The Shining.

I've just finished DUMA again, and wondered if the repeated mention of roses and the picture of the red caped figure (yes, I realize that it's the creature that inhabits the doll, bu that was mighty Crimson King-like imagery--I immediately thought of the picture in the Grant hardback of DT VII) might have faint whisper of the Tower behind them.

OOH...excellent catch on the 478. I have a friend who's obsessive compulsive and everything needs to equal 7. May be the same type of thing.
So, you have one name in your user ID which contains six letters (1 + 6 = 7!) with two numbers in it (9 - 2 = 7!). So, what you're really saying is that you have a friend who's obsessed with the number 7? Uh huh, right.......=D

Hadn't thought about Duma....there's also the connect to art. Painting things into being being in Duma and erasing them from reality in DT.

Yup. Elizabeth tried to erase things from reality in DUMA, too, and Edgar actually did it. Maybe it's a place where the veil between worlds is thin...

I like your thinking. I'd forgotten about the erasing in Duma. It's been a while. Now all we have to do is re-read (or read for the first time in my case) all of the books written since the gunslinger to check for additional references. :) Who's in?
