Joining the crowd of people who loved the story.
Such a beautiful meditation on end of life decision making that uses SF genre conventions to discuss an incredibly difficult topic. Also loved how the story followed this small group of people who seem so different, yet gather together. I love how SK's work shows different people--who, on the surface, share few similarities--coming together. Also, Scott's cat is named Bill (D. Cat) and my cat's name is Bill, so that was a fun bonus!
I hadn't planned to incorporate Elevation into my class, but after reading the story, it's now on the syllabus.

I read this last night despite being ankle deep in Dreamcatcher. Not a bad, quick read. I did think the ending left something to be desired. I had read it was an uplifting, happy book. I was reading on my kindle (library borrowed) and actually checked my hard copy to make sure I didn't miss a chapter. I prefer the longer format I guess. I also didn't get what was happening with the guy and that it affected things he touched until nearly the end when the road race occurred. I must be slow. lol

After finishing "Elevation" and placing it my bookcase, I realized the genius of Mr. King is not only in his writing but occasionally in the design of his books.
I enjoyed this book as well - it was a quick read. I ended up reading over half of it while soaking in a hot bath and didn't want to put it down, but I had to go out. I finished it later that evening. (Good book!)
