Somewhere over the rainbow
'though I did love Elevation, I have one complaint;
Story was uplifting but an epic tale it ain't.
All it did was wet my whistle; leave me wanting more...
When's a lengthy Stephen King book coming to the store?

I know that I sound ungrateful. I apologize
And I will admit the novel helped my spirits rise.
Please forgive me for displaying such unseemly greed
But I really wish the book had been a longer read.

I know what you mean. I love a door stopper of an SK novel myself. I felt it could have been longer. However, the muse speaks as it does.

I read this book. It was pretty good, and it left me in a good mood. I would like to say that I thought
that I was reading a happy version of Thinner
Anyway, I have passed my copy and signed it over to Ebdim9th. My idea is to pass the book along throughout different people who want to read it, have them sign it and eventually have it make its way back to me.
I’m not sure that I can make that happen, but if you are interested in reading the book and participating in this little project, please contact either me or Ebdim9th. i’d be happy to pay for the postage.

....soooooo, I get the novelette in the mail a couple of days ago(cue the singing cherubim), only to find that the binding glue isn't keeping the spine attached to the pages?!?!....not gonna send it back, cuz I'll never see it again=but this was shoddy work and I expect better of them, given pricing and sloth slow shipping.....

Get in touch with them as I think they'd be both willing to do something for you and would want to know about the binding situation for their quality control in the future.

I got distracted by life, I've started reading it, now take to take time aside to finish reading the novella, light the stogie, get the guerrilla girl, tall and sweet, to bring me the postage and address to let me know where to send it.. .we here at the banana republic down South look forward to sharing the wealth .....

....so I started my read last night, as Tracy had bought me a first edition as a gift....so far I'm enjoying it-even with the not so subtle political under/overtones.....
.....finished it, and truly did enjoy it....few little nods to other works, like we've come to appreciate-but the crux was love, as is the case with many of his tales......took me a second to lose the whole Thinner vibe though.....

This is the first Stephen King book that I am disappointed with. Too short, and not very thrilling. It is written well, but... if I thought his next book would be like Elevation, I wouldn't buy it.
Hi and welcome. Not all books are the same length. Sometimes great thoughts, stories, inspiration can be found within just a few words. Which was your favorate SK book?

Thank you Spideyman. Of course volume is not what makes or breaks a book. It's just... with Elevation, it ended where i felt the story was finally about to pick up.

I love pretty much all Stephen King books, and his short stories are amazing (Herman Wouk is still alive is my #1). But Elevation is neither here nor there. The writing is brilliant, the story is lukewarm... so sorry to say that! Loved DeeDee, very colourful.

I'm getting The Outsider next!

Think you might enjoy The Outsider. Totally different direction. Do let us know what you think.
