I really liked this short novel. It did leave me with in tearsin part because Of the way it ended. I can’t believe all the negative reviews I’ve seen on Amazon about Stephen Kings liberalism, As if being liberal was a negative thing. These people missed the mark so far it’s unbelievable. There is so much bigotry in this world and negativity, so to criticize an author because he’s talking about prejudice against lesbians is so horrible. This book touched me and I’m sure it will touch a lot of others as well

I agree with Linda. There is far too much bigotry and negativity in this world. As for the book, which is more like a novella, I was surprised to see some of the reviews it has garnered on Amazon. Some reviewers were outraged at the price. Others were repelled because Mr. King assumed a so-called political stance. Apparently they equate him with horror and when he writes something else, they become irate and even hostile. No Constant Readers here, as CRs know Mr. King writes more that just horror. I agree that the work is short, yet is has a very refreshing "light" touch. The main premise is very appealing, and I'm sure that if Mr. King had wanted to, he could have made out of this a minor opus. There are possibilities here he only touched upon. Consider for example
if more than one person were "afflicted" with the condition which drives the plot. Fascinating to contemplate.

I could not open your spoiler (I still have not read it), but I'm looking forward more than ever to giving this one a go! - Thanks

Welcome Linda Guthrie! I've generally ignored people's subjective opinions on Art well before the advent of the internet. Now those opinions have expanded ad infinitum and I still ignore them! :biggrin-new: As you say, there is much too much negativity on these website comment posts and everyone seems to be an expert because they can google 'participle' or 'paragraph', or whatever they don't immediately understand, ignoring context and history completely. I thought it was a great little read, but I was more intrigued by the 'gravity' story than by the morality lesson. The mushrooms are low and taste woody. (Don't let that last sentence confuse you; just a very bad joke about the name Guthrie). All the best, mal
