Was anyone else emotional? I just finished the audio book yesterday evening. I had to sit in my driveway for 15 minutes after my commute home because I couldn't wait to finish!

After listening to the story for two weeks, I felt so emotionally invested. I was sad the story was over and my time with Jake complete. I found the ending to be bittersweet...

I read the alternate ending someone posted a link to in another thread... I have some questions about that! I was confused.

Does anyone else mourn a book sometimes, once you have completed the story? I hope one day Mr. King re-visits Jake and Sadie. I like when a character I love gets a continuation of their story.

Also, does anyone want to go dancing? :)
I just finished. Wow! What a great book! I like how it ended, but I do wish
Sadie had not been shot by Oswald in 1963.

Absolutely. That book has stayed with me ever since reading it last year, and I have been dying to re read it for awhile now but I wanted to watch the series first. I think it'll be even better next time around. I have never started a book and felt so amazed so quickly. King was at the very top of his game in my opinion. That ending... Man that has stuck with me every single day since I read it. Talk about a thought provoking book! I have never been so emotionally invested in a book and in characters in my life. When I finished it, I sat there in my recliner... Just sat there, looking at the wall, not seeing the wall, tears brimming. I could not move. I love all the classics, all the huge tomes & epic journeys like IT and The Stand... But 11/22/63 got to me in a way no other piece of fiction ever has or probably ever will. I am still in absolute awe. It felt like pure magic to me, and I will appreciate the gift he gave us with that book for forever. I just recently bought 3 of the new mass market paperbacks.. Much easier to handle, and I know I'll wear them out eventually lol. Every single time I hear the word dance now, my thoughts immediately go to Jake & Sadie lol. I can't get over how it has stayed with me. That ending was so thought provoking, the entire book was really. Enjoying the series as well, no complaints here. If the ending is bittersweet though..... I think my brain might finally melt LOL! I apologize for the huge paragraph.. I am on mobile ( new phone ) and can not figure out how to space properly. Sorry for the eyesore!

Awe, that was a great response (even without paragraphs)! Something about the writing really drew me in to the story as well and I feel like I really knew Jake. I try to get everyone to read this book!

I also agree that dancing will always make me think of Jake and Sadie. Thanks to this book I still want to learn how to Lindy!

It makes me happy to know others enjoyed this book as much as I did and that we were able to talk about how we felt with others. Hard to talk to people about books sometimes. Not everyone "gets" it.

This is the book that really resonated with me. I am recording the series now. I did not even get the part about
the two dancers practicing their dancing in the park, because I had not read IT yet
but I still loved the book overall. I should read it again.

But surely you've seen the IT mini series, Neesy?
No - I honestly had not seen it - did it come out in the 80s or the 90s?

I heard it was not much to write home about anyway. I went through a period where I did not watch a lot of telly - joined the military in 1980 and that kept me pretty busy for a lot of years.

(Plus I made a conscious effort from about 1994 until 2000 to keep my TV watching to a minimum).

I havent seen the 'It' mini-series either. i took it as foreshadowing how important what they were doing would become to Jake and Sadie later on.

That makes a nice change. On most SK sites I've been on you'd think it was the only thing he'd done (well that and Kubrick's The Shining). If I see one more pic of Tim Curry as Pennywise I'll scream.

The IT miniseries is worth a watch. The first half is really, really good IMO-- sticks to the spirit of the novel pretty well. The second half drags a bit and the adult actors aren't that good.

TBH... I haven't read the book either! It isn't a genre I typically enjoy and I don't like books with violence towards children.

I feel the same was as the OP. In much the same way that you were sad your time with Jake was up - I was sad our time with Sadie was up.

The book really had a deep effect on me - in a good way. I was originally really only interested/fascinated in the time travel concept and wanted to get to the parts that had to do with Oswald and the assassination ASAP - but by the end of the book I almost didn't even care about that anymore and just wanted to keep reading more about Jake and Sadie.

It's also a bit eerie to me that in the first week I started reading the book I mentioned to a friend that it reminded me of a darker or more serious version of Back to the Future the movie. The very next week that movie must have been on TV 4-5 times at least. Harmonization I guess haha.

Baadar-Meinhoff Phenomenon or in simpler terms Yellow Car Syndrome. Either that or you read 11/22/63 just before Back to the future day, October the 21st 2015.

If you are struggling with The Gunslinger my advice is to skip it. Go right to Drawing of the Three.
That book will drag you right in and eventually you'll have an easier time with Gunslinger. But whatever you do, don't skip the series. You can thank me later.
I got the same advice from J.D. and it was spot on. I've read the series twice. Loved every word.
