The book store in Sewickely, PA has sent out some information on the upcoming event. Most relevant is probably parking and hanging out your ticket:

Here are some important things to know for the event:

1. Do not show up at the event without a ticket! No tickets will be available the night of the event. An original ticket, purchased at the Penguin Bookshop on April 17th, is the only form of entry we will accept.

2. The entrance into the event will be marked with balloons. We will also have Penguin Bookshop team members outside directing our guests.

3. Doors will open at approximately 6:15pm. No one is permitted to be on campus until 6:00PM.

4. We will hole-punch your ticket upon entry into the auditorium. NO RE-ENTRY IS ALLOWED. Hold onto your ticket during the event -- you will need it at the end of the event to receive your book!

5. Consider parking in the Sewickley Village and walking to Sewickley Academy (SA). There is very limited parking at SA. Most available parking will be residential street parking around the school. You might consider having dinner in the village and then walking to SA. It is about 1 mile from town.

6. No photographs are allowed during the event. When Mr. King walks out onto the stage, we will allow photos. After that time, no photos, including cell phone photos, will be allowed.

7. There is no food or drink allowed into the auditorium.

8. Hold onto your ticket during the event -- you will need it to pick up your copy of END OF WATCH at the end of the event. We will have several tables set up as you exit the auditorium where we will distribute books. We will hole-punch your ticket a 2nd time and then hand you your book. All signed books will be mixed in with the unsigned. Penguin Bookshop team members will NOT know if they are handing you a signed book or not. Your place in line has NO BEARING on your chances of receiving a signed book. The first person in line has the same chance as the last person in line to receive a signed book.

Leave it to Pennsylvanians to hold a large event and provide nowhere to park. SOP around here.

And people will show up early. Tell them there is very limited parking, they'll have to walk a mile, and they are bound to show up well in advance in order to get a place to park. I think it may get a tad ugly out west, especially if it's hot outside... and we here can be an ugly bunch when we're hot and sweaty with nothing to do.

Anyone know whether or not Mr. King will make himself available for photo opportunities before or after any of the shows? From what I have read so far, I am guessing that is a big No. Maybe Ms. Mod may convince him to reconsider for the WV event Friday? Fingers crossed.
Or will the only chance at a photo occur while he is on stage?

And anyone going to the Charleston, WV event this Friday? I will be attending with my better half.

Sorry, there's no time in the schedule for it. Can you imagine how much extra time it would take if people knew there was a photo op with him?! I know what he's in for and how tired he's going to be once he comes home, so no way I'd be asking him to do more than he's already agreed to do. :smile2:

It still amazes me with his schedule- a city a day. No breaks- 12 days! Different weather conditions, restaurant or room service foods. Travel time between them, getting ready, doing the talk, trying to get a tad of downtime- sleep, is that included? Up again and off to the next venue. Oh, and still finding time to write while observing all those "what ifs" for the next idea. He is so giving to his Constant Readers. No way does he "need" to do these tours, yet he does. I think he enjoys them, to an extent. It has to take a toll on him physically.
It is an honor to attend these events. Listen and enjoy. Pay attention to his humor! And thank you, Steve for all you give to us.

Last night in NJ was great, as always. The theatre was beautiful and intimate. Few observations, didn't start on time at all, doors were at 6:30 Stephen to speak at 7:30, he came out around 8. Even then not everyone was seated and for a sold out event I was surprised at the amount of empty seats all around.
The sound was good, maybe a little low but I could hear everything he said clear. My seat was great and on the center isle so I only had one person crammed beside me. Felt like I got a sweet isle seat on a plane. Stephen was funny and spoke amazing. I heard some stories I have not heard before and some that I had. My only complaint would be that I feel the event was cut a bit short and he did not read from "End of watch". I think this was because of the late start. He kept checking his watch multiple times like there wasn't enough time to do what he had planned.
I actually prefer more time of Stephen just winging it and telling funny stories than the actual book reading, but that's coming from someone who is a bit spoiled and has already heard Stephen read before. And there is something great about your favorite author reading to you from his book. So I do feel bad for the people in attendance for first time that missed out on that opportunity.
My other observation was that the check in and out and getting the books was handled very "loosely" for lack of better word. The printed email or show your phone thing was not checked very well at all, and honestly anyone could of just walked in and got a seat, same goes for the handing out of the books that the end. In fact I did not see ANYONE getting the stamp on their hand checked to receive the book at the end. Let me give you an example, I entered with my email print out and showed them I had two seats, that a gentleman I met outside was using my other seat but I was to receive BOTH books at the end. So I got TWO stamps on my hand to indicate I was to receive TWO books and the other guy got no stamp. Ok makes sense right? Well when we all waked out he was also handed a book. I have to image this wasn't the only instance of this as I seen many people with two stamps on their hands.
Overall the event went well and I enjoyed every min of it. I was lucky enough to get one of the signed books at the end. So that was the icing on the cake.
Now I will leave in a few hours to go to PA for that event, I hope that its a bit different from last night. I will post some pics of both tomorrow.

I am wondering if Steve mentioned anything about upcoming books or projects? If he has another book coming before the end of the year it should have already been announced you would think
Not a word, but, as Machine's Way said, the show was cut short a bit because of the late start. I'm sure that question would've come up otherwise.

The only other book that will be coming out this year will be the non-fiction one about his time at the University of Maine which is an anthology of essays by Stephen and various people who were there with him at the time. Projects beyond that I'm not able to talk about yet as I haven't been given the official thumbs up to make them public.
