If you haven't read MM and FK, beware!

What are your wish list items for EOW? (Things you hope to see.)

What are your predictions?

I'm hoping for more Brady backstory, flashbacks, and for the book to be super long. I'm hoping the supernatural element won't be too out there.

Predictions: Brady will try to mess with Holly's head in a serious way. We know she's struggled with mental illness, and after the closing chapter in FK, I can see him trying to taunt her into suicide.

I would be so sad to see her die. I was gutted when Janey died.... And Holly has a lot more personal investment, being around longer.
Exactly, and this is why I think Steve will 'off' her- it'll make his Constant Readers cry and be upset. I really like her alot myself, so I do hope this won't happen, but I've read enough King to know how he takes things in his stories....

He seems to be getting softer, though. No one we gave a darn about died in MM (Janey doesn't really count, since she was in and out so quickly), FK, or Doctor Sleep. I was shocked at that one--I really expected at least one major character to die.

Maybe a little Silence of the Lambs action with Brady helping some admiring kook get his revenge on the Scooby gang with his new powers/mind control or maybe using it to make some innocent people commit crimes to draw Hodges out. Hodges is the only one on to him. Hodges gets smoked in the final rodeo taking out Brady and his pal. The Dead Zone meets SoLambs.

Here we go again with the "Is it just me . . . ?" stuff ... but I don't think I'm the only person in here who might be disappointed if Mr. King was "mellowing" with age.

More likely, he's setting us up for something . . .

Or maybe not . . .

You know what?

Never mind.

Not knowing is better.

Yeah this is defiantly true. As an author myself I sometimes painfully enjoy killing off a beloved character >=-)

To begin with, I think Holly’s pretty much toast. It seems to be King’s modus operandi to kill off some of the most likeable or good-natured of characters. Though I know this is coming, I’ll still be shocked by it. There is such an inner sweetness and goodness to Holly that you can’t help but love her.

I’m assuming Jerome will be in End of Watch as well, and he’ll be quite vulnerable, too. I’d give him a 50/50 chance of surviving.

I think we’ll see Hodges and Brady return to *the* starring roles. Hodge’s role in Finder’s Keepers was quite minor until the latter part of the book. Morris, Andy, Peter Saubers and his family, and the Runner cycle were all more frequent and important for the majority of the novel.

Plot-wise, I think it’s very difficult to predict. Mr. Mercedes was straight-forward, tightly written detective novel. Finders Keepers threw in some supernatural stuff that was a bit unexpected and not congruous with the style of Mr. Mercedes or Finders Keepers up until that very moment.

I think that Brady more or less has to escape from the hospital, and then target maybe Jerome or Holly, or plan an even bigger terrorist attack than before. Then again, Brady escaping would be one of the biggest news stories in the region, Hodges will have been long retired, and was already nearly sent to prison for his actions in Mr. Mercedes.

Perhaps there will be an altogether new villain, and Brady and Hodges somehow, for some reason work together.
