Never seen that one. I don't get out much so I figure I will treat myself. It's been a long winter - did you notice the days are finally starting to get longer? Hurray! :biggrin2::dbl::thumbs_up::thumbs_up:

If I bags??? Go home autocorrect. You're drunk!

We each choose what we will and won't pay for. I'm not judging. ;)

All I've noticed is white. Lots and lots of white.

I signed up for Hulu last night just so I could watch this and I'm really glad I did! I really liked it! I'm not a person who gets upset about differences from the book as long as they help move things along (which is usually why they make changes, along with budget reasons). But even if those things are really important to you, I think they absolutely nailed a lot of things perfectly. I can't wait to see what happens next even though I've read the book twice, so that's great television!

I enjoyed the first episode very much. Really, the changes are minor and do not deserve to be compared to the changes that happened with Under the Dome. These changes make sense and totally work with the story. Franco is doing a great job so far. Chris Cooper is spot on as Al, and while I like him, I did have trouble seeing him as Al....until I watched it.

Thumbs up from me!!

sigh... There are so many things wrong right out of the with this adaption. I was very apprehensive when i heard this was being made but in the same breath was excited that it was being given a multiple episode treatment. What a perfect forum (opportunity) to "Do it right" where so many other novels made into movies have failed.
The first episode is in such a rush to go NOWHERE! Why are we in Dallas in the first hour of an 8+ hour series?? Why are we seeing Sadie with her husband in Dallas when she is supposed to be in hiding from him because of his abuse. Why is the supposed friendship of Al and Jake turned upside down with yelling and screaming?? I cant even get past how horrendous the story is to speak of how "uninterested" James Franco looks in whats happening around him.

Did Bridget Carpenter (writer, producer) even read the book before adapting it for the screen? I understand that things are going to change between print and screen as we have seen many times before but this is not even close!

I'm sorry; but I LOVE this book and am so saddened to see it defaced in this manner. The only thing that's remotely close to the novel is the Title.

This is the most telling reference, I think.
If THE MAN has no problems with the TV version, how can we, the readers and viewers, do anything other than enjoy?

I had similar issues with what was done with Game of Thrones, it seemed to go off track after the first few episodes. I felt the same way at first, when watching 11.22.63
But I watched the whole episode and I now agree with all of the favorable comments in this forum.
I realized watching the movie that even Al Templeton's lung cancer was Time resisting his efforts, something that hadn't hit me neither time I read the book. Still, I thought the car crashing through the telephone booth, the fire in the restaurant that scarred Al's arm, the fire in the boarding house, the repetition from so many characters to Jake "you don't belong here" was a bit overkill. And finally I realized this might have been overkill in a book, but in a movie it was just a different device for a different medium.

Well "THE Man" had no apparent problems with the Dome adaption either, but he's getting paid for it. Really has no bearing on how we should feel about the changes. Some of them just seem to be for no good reason.

So cool! I'm loving it.

Just finished watching The Kill Floor (episode 2)

Some observations and thoughts:
Beveeee from the levee! (Seems like ole Bevs picked up some religious thoughts from her old man.)

Harry being bullied by those horrid boys-reminded me of Dudditz in Dream-catcher.

When Jake, Harry, Frick and Frack were walking through the slaughter house hallway it looked like the kids walking through the tunnels in The Barrens.

Dahmit! I totally missed that Al got hit with cancer BECAUSE he was fricken with the past!?

I had more to say but I lost my train of thought. Ha!
