I am listing some of my favorite epistolary fiction which I'm including under the umbrella of novels that use letters, diaries, and other editorial devices. I'd love to hear your suggestions; perhaps I haven't heard of them.

Frances And Bernard - Carlene Bauer
Dracula - Bram Stoker
Fair And Tender Ladies - Lee Smith
Carrie - Stephen King
The Color Purple - Alice Walker
Herzog - Saul Bellow
Frankenstein - Mary Shelley

I want to read The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins and another book (difficult to classify) called Steppenwolf. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Ah yes, a fun form indeed, herr Doktor. Try:

Some of Your Blood, Theodore Sturgeon

The U.S.A Trilogy, Dos Passos

The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner, James Hogg
Thanks; all three are new to me. I look forward to researching these tomorrow. Incidentally, is this a form of writing you've tinkered around with? I have tried it only once and the challenge is sustaining the narrative through such a limited construct. It can be done but has its constraints. One has to be very creative. Not as easy as it appears on paper.

I've messed around with it, mainly in the form of letters passed back and forth between two characters, along with diary excerpts. It's a interesting way to roll, aye.
