King has written many books with writer protagonists, giving us a 'secret window' (if you will) into his own mind, but I agree that Lisey's Story was a very personal and revealing story of what may be the closest metaphor for what he calls going "to the pool". Booya Moon is obviously a metaphor for the landscape of imagination and how even the reader becomes a participant by escaping reality for a time. Duma Key strongly links to this book when it comes to the passion and obsession of creativity. Scott Landon, while not a caricature of King, is still the strongest vision of what we Constant Readers have of our favorite author. In my opinion we are given blood, sweat, and many tears in this one. Bool, the end.

Hey Crew,
While reading Lisey's Story, did any others of you who enjoy writing feel that the entire novel was a brilliant extended metaphor for the creative writing process?
I think some of it was sort of autobiographical in a way, as while he was in hospital with the bad leg etc. his wife DID go through his old papers and stuff to reorganize and clean.

This book was the hardest one for me to really get into [at first], but once I did, I did enjoy it a lot.

Hi Crew,
thanks for the cordial welcome(s). You'll be seeing more of me in the future.
Also, I appreciate y'alls comments. I was asking bc I know when I write I lose myself in a word not unlike Scott's (especially when I'm slightly over-caffeinated...) and it's hard to return to reality. Peace
