It may be sad that I don't know, but I have never seen that cover for Joyland. That's a cool cover

As you have the stand as some of your top 3, what do you think of the newer covers? Please don't give spoilers as I haven't read that one yet (I know I need to but just haven't mustered up the courage to devote myself to that long a book at this time because I just finished IT)

Some of the newer covers of ‘The Stand’ are okay, some are pretty vanilla. There’s just something about that first cover (I believe it was the first cover) with the fighting duo that is more intriguing than the standard cookie cutout flare most King novels seem to have adapted. As for 'Joyland,' what can be more appealing than a haunting backdrop of bright and muted colors to a woman in a bikini holding a shotgun? :)

I love the art of a book so this is a really hard question.

Without a doubt, there was one chilling cover -- the one that pulled me in. And all it took was one drop of color.

Who designed this cover? Who was the artist? This is really frustrating. We talk about covers of Stephen King books, yet we don't mention the artist. And in press releases, it's hard to find the artist mentioned.

Publishers, you need to do better. Give credit where credit is earned. Someone or a group of someone's designed these covers. They pull us in. They intrigue us. And I don't care, but a lot of us DO judge a book by its cover at first. A bad cover doesn't necessarily mean we won't read it, but a beautiful, artistic cover can make me pick up a book faster than anything.

I particularly like this cover. It's sort of analogous to Dorothy always having the power inside herself to get back to Kansas.

Real horror is in our minds, in our dreams. It's inside us. Stephen is just the designated ambassador -- smiling, shaking hands and releasing the hounds.

Another Erich Hobbing design. Is this person the artist or is this person just the entity or person who put it all together?

If you look on the back jacket flap, you will see that the jacket illustration was done by Federico Bebber. The overall design of the jacket was done by Jim Tierney and the interior of the book was designed by Erich Hobbing. My understanding is that all of these people are employees of Scribner/Simon & Schuster

While not a favorite, Lisey's Story, minus the jacket, was a vibrant piece of art.

Another Erich Hobbing.

Designed by Erich Hobbing. Is this the artist, a company?
On back flap of jacket cover: Jacket spine and case illustrated by Mark Stutzman and the jacket design was by John Fulbrook III. Erick Hobbing designed the interior which means he chose the font and the layout of the page numbering and headings.
