I'm really excited for this book loved the first one! Only problem is I belong to the SK library and usually get new books like a week after they are released. But its ok just started Talisman and going to read Black House after so the extra week will help

Regarding the Finders Keepers sweepstakes.

Total prizes include a hardcover copy of the book signed by Stephen, 20 winners will receive CD audiobooks, and 20 winners will receive hardcover books. Total approximate ARV of all prizes combined: $1,429.80.

The Simon & Schuster list price for the hardcover is $30.00. So 21 books equals $630.00. Their Unabridged Compact Disk lists for $39.99. So the 20 audiobooks is $799.80. That totals $1,429.80. Does that mean they value Stephen King’s signature at nothing? In what world does S&S live in?

If you were to go to a signing event, you'd pay list price for the book and nothing in addition for the signature. All the signed books that were sold at the Brooklyn event recently went for list price.
Okay, but how many people showed up and how many got those books?

So the First Prize in the sweepstakes is valued at less than 20 other prizes.

And how exactly do I go about getting me one of those hardcover Finders Keepers books signed by King for $30.00 preordered? :)

The prize winner has to pay taxes on his or her winnings -- it wouldn't seem fair to "artificially" inflate the value of the prize simply because there's a signature on it.
But fair market value of a book with King's signature adds about $400 to $500 onto it. And hey, we're all suppose to like paying our fair share of taxes, right? ;)

The legal beagles are the ones setting the rules for these and SRP is what they've decided is the amount to use for determining the value for the prizes.

Suggested Retail Price
Thanks.

The Suggested Retail Price always seemed misleading to me regarding books. I don't recall ever paying the SRP for a new book I purchased, but I have had to pay the SRP on books that are out of print for some reason.

Are royalties paid to authors usually based on the Suggested Retail Price, or some other number?
