I just got done listening to this book. It had a very different feel from the other books I listen to. At first I thought it was a book about losing faith..but it was not. It was more then that. It was also about giving god and life it self the middle finger. I know that sounds crude but in a way that what it was.

It was also about what you seek is what you get. When your seeking answers form the beyond with out knowing who your calling...you never know who will answer. I don't think Jacob ever lost his faith. He was blinded by hate for what happen to his family. He wanted to prove that he could also touch the powers that be. That he can heal and bring answers. Well yeah didn't ended well. When you hate one god. Another bond to show up.

It was good book and I like it. The ending made me wonder where will end up. I don't think everyone in this world ended up there. I think it was more those souls ended up there due to center locks being open and close. In way I know we all end up on the other side someday and you end up going were your meant to be. If that slave I swear I am going to be sucky one. I really did not like center bug in there. I see them in house I freak out.

This book was not one of my favorites, but on a recent re-read, I did find I tolerated it better.
I didn't like the bug at the end either!
But I did enjoy your thoughts. Thanks for posting.
I'm hoping that's my experience on re-read as well. This is one that left me shaking my head, even with the heavy Frankenstein vibe. I haven't had the heart to pick it up again. I give Mr. King's books multiple chances, though, because experience has taught me that what doesn't speak to me initially might speak to me later (The Gunslinger and The Dead Zone were like that for me). Except for maybe UtD. I have yet to really enjoy one of the alien quartet, even after multiple readings for the first three, and UtD might be too bloated to stab at again.
