World's Highest-Paid Authors 2018: Michael Wolff Joins List Thanks To 'Fire And Fury'

For whomever might be interested. Scroll down to get to the relevant paragraph about King.

Another thread talked about how many books King sells. Supposedly, this article gives a figure of 2.7 million domestic copies between June 2017/18. I'm going to assume that combines physical and digital, as well as new releases and catalog.

I'm not sure how accurate Forbes' methodology is (it seems like a lot of guessing goes on). However, in King's case, based on things he has said in the past, his stat seems like a possibly close number. But I really don't know. The methodology does imply that some authors were interviewed, but I am going to assume King did not talk to the editors. I can believe he earned a lot of money from the movie It, though.

Not to write too many words on this, but I find it odd that Patterson did so much better than King, based on the stats presented. Then again, maybe It the movie, as well as international sales, skewed things...

Patterson has a new book published about every two or three weeks, that's how he gets to be top dog on the list for fiction. Steve publishes one or two a year but at least they are quality novels. :D
