regarding Mike, he remembered a lot of what happened. He also stated at one point that there was a two week or so gap in his memory regarding the final events of the summer, which he didn't start remembering until they were all gathered together again. I believe at one point it was said something to the affect of 4 years prior to the return of It he started keeping his journal for reasons not entirely understood by him, and researching the towns' history a little closer, It may be that even his memory was a little spotty until he started waking it up by doing his research. I vaguely recall a reference to him thinking of the giant bird he saw for the first time in years once hearing that his father once saw it as well. the details are a little vague at times with just how much his memory was affected.

I'm glad everyone's memory is sharper than mine. The real detail I always get mixed up about Mike is in the miniseries when he tells Bill he climbed all the way back down into the sewers to retrieve the melted silver lodged in the drain. And maybe it's part of the magic of the book but the ending always goes back to being hazy in my memory. But for as long as IT is, every time I finish it it feels too short.

Insomnia was great, too. I think I read it when I was twelve and it was my introduction to the astral plane. I saw the "shadow men" phenomena out of the corner of my eye many times that summer and of course I thought of the bald doctors. To me that's what they were. But when I read Insomnia I envisioned the bald doctors to look like the Iz from The Maxx comic book series. It's been so long I'm not sure I've got the name right.

I haven't read it in forever. I actually only had a couple issues. I was a Marvel Comics kid and Image was still relatively new. I mostly watched the cartoon on MTv Oddities. I consumed mass quantities of MTv in my youth. I was a particular fan of The State. My grandma wouldn't buy cable at knife point (she still doesn't have it to this day) so I would only get to see it at a friend's house when I would sleep over. I've noticed it's strange how badly I wanted to be able to remember my youth and how hard it really is to look back on it now without feeling bittersweet.

I was thinking about the nature of IT. Personally, I have tended to think of Pennywise as a permanent physical entity until now and I'm wondering if I'm wrong. It was never explained as such, but I've been getting the feeling Pennywise is a re-manifestation of a physical form. IT would manifest this form as IT emerged from the sewers. This is where my speculation comes in. When Pennywise returns to the sewers, does the manifestation end as It rejoins with the deadlights?

If the physical form can be killed, but the deadlights still exist, than that would mean the Losers didn't kill IT. If they risked their lives to destroy ITs physical form but the deadlights still exist on some level, then the cycle would eventually begin again, as eluded to in Dreamcatcher. Then it would make more sense that something similar to Insomnia was happening, where by defeating IT during this cycle they've protected someone important to the continued existence of the Tower who would have been a victim otherwise.

Pure speculation, but if the Losers beat IT twice and still didn't completely defeat it, that sure does seem like a raw deal.
