George RR Martin stated in an interview that the books may not follow the TV series......
additional input George R.R. Martin Is Watching His Story Slip Away

That would be fine with me. I've said it before, but I love all the little differences between the books and the show. A philosophy I'm trying to apply to a story about some guy searching for a Tower of some sort.....

So, who's going to sit the Iron Throne at the end?
Not Cersei. By taking it now, it rules her out of being there at the end. From the look on his face, Jaime will see to that. Then he'll be taken out by Ser Gregorstein, who in turn will be taken out by Arya - or maybe the Hound, overcoming his fear of fire to torch his not so dear brother (and return the favour for his scars).
Not Jon, Dany, Sansa or Arya either. In fact, none of the main/obvious contenders. For me, it'll either be Gendry (remember him? Still paddling around the Narrow Sea somewhere...), Tyrion or...the Night King!

More predictions:
Euron to encounter Dany's fleet. Dany will win (dragons vs wood = win for the dragons), but at a heavy cost...including a dragon.
Theon will actually do something.
Bran will reveal Jon's true parentage, causing a bit of a crisis at Winterfell.
Humour (dark):
King's Landing. Yep. Well named.

Well, here's what I'd like to see.

Arya finishes off her list (Cersei's on there, as well as Gregorstein << love that BTW). Sensa rules Winterfell after pushing Littlefinger through the Moon Door. Jon's is parentage revealed - gives him the dragon superpowers! He and Dany meet and she gives him a dragon. He uses that to defeat the Night King and all his minions and Dany rules as a benevolent queen on the Iron Throne from this day until her last day!

Yes! At least one of
the major players has to be the one on the Iron Throne at the end. Not a minor character! That would spoil the whole thing for me. There is so much time invested in all these people! One of them better win! They can't all die!

Love all those previous posts, except CAT's - :p:applause::p

But..........

Remember this about Cersei:
The witch told her things that have come true now. All her kids dying for example, so it stands to reason that she will be replaced by a younger more beautiful queen. Since the Tyrell girl's dreams went up in smoke (get it?) last episode that means it will be Dany (oh yes) either on the throne or at her yet to be determined husband's side as queen. The question is who might be her hubby aka The King?

I get confused on lineages because my memory of older seasons faded. Isn't Stannis Baratheon (who some believe may be alive)the true heir to the Iron Throne? Cersei killed his brother Robert, right? (I need to watch first two seasons again.) And Renley Baratheon was another brother. All dead...but maybe Brionne knows more about Stannis than she's telling. After The Hound and Jon Snow returning anything is possible. If I had to pick I'd want Tyrion on the throne. I've only read book one and my favorite two characters in that book were Jon Snow (John Stark Targaryan) and Tyrion Lannister.

Last sentence of your post--- Martin said he admires SK methods with characters, and we all know what SK does to his main characters!;)

I think Dany and Tyrion will be married and rule together. Or at least be married. ;-D

Who is older, Dany or Jon? That may determine which one but I don't think Jon really wants to "rule" anything. I think he will defer to Dany and be happy being Lord of Winterfell.

They are good together! It will start out as a marriage of convenience. At least for her, he is already completely smitten with her. But she will love him, soon. I think that is a great plan!! :applause: Come on, just imagine
Cersei's reaction when her hated little brother shows up in King's Landing, with Dany and dragons in tow. I want him to say some kind of special snarky comment and introduce Dany as his wife. Yay!! There would be so many eye daggers being thrown!

Oh and am I mad? Quite possibly. I will be the last to know. :p
