It is so very rare for me to not finish a book. But I decided life is to short to keep reading one that I was so utterly board with.

So, I started the Book Thief. I had never heard of it, but just happened upon it. With two pages I was completely into it.

Don't hate me. I am still a fan of King's work. Just not this one book.

I really enjoyed this. Cried at the end too!! BUT...... we can't love everything he writes, that'd make us kinda sad if we blindly professed love for every single one of his written words. (Whispering) *I'm not a lover of the Dark Tower*. There, I said it out loud!!!!:my_bad:

NO hate :) I dislike the alien books (Dreamcatcher, From a Buick 8, Tommyknockers) and The Gunslinger, and actively despise The Regulators *shrug* That's what makes Mr. King so successful--his books have a wide appeal to a big section of genre fiction readers. Doesn't mean everyone likes everything :)

Though I really loved Joyland, The Book Thief put me to sleep (lol). Different strokes, as they say--haha!

Honestly, my concern was that I was getting into a dry spell. Very rarely in my life, I've hit periods where no books are interesting. I used to keep a few favourites to read because no matter how many times I read it I love it. One of those was a book called the Mirror by Marlys Millhiser. If I couldn't get into that book then there was no sense trying to read anything.

But, in the last move I guess I lost it.

So, I'm just glad I can read something. :)

We can't always love everything SK writes.....*looks over shoulder, whispers* I didn't particularly like 11/22/63.
Maybe after taking a nice break, you'll give Joyland another try.....or not.
Be sure to give us an update on the Book Thief. :)

You have violated Item 7 of the Decalogue of the Constant Reader, which obligates you
to finish every SK book you begin. Repent. You are still in time.

That's OK. I couldn't finish Danse Macabre either. Stuff happens.

Doesn't it feel wonderful to admit that!
Actually... yes. (*sighs*) :biggrin2:

It covered a lot of material that I just haven't been familiar with, so, much of it seemed to be going over my head. It's one that I thought maybe I'd give another go to... now that I've had much more exposure to some of the things he was talking about, it may be different for me now.
