I'm sorry I'm just now getting around to getting back to everyone. I first and foremost want to thank each and every one of you for the well wishes. I'm a bit overwhelmed by a lot of things right now, but just the sheer number of thoughts, and well wishes I've received from various members has been very humbling. I have no adequate way of thanking you all for the love and support you've shown toward me, so I''ll simply just say, thank you all, for everything.
I'm back home, finally, after eight days in the hospital. I had some very serious bi-lateral pulmonary embolisms which caused me some serious complications over the last week, up to, and including coding in the ER last Monday night. It was surreal experience which happened right in front of my son, my wife, and my stepson as they looked on. Without going into details, I was very fortunate to have a skilled medical team who were able to pull me back from the drain and get me stabilized. A very serious pulmonary angiogram with some major clot busting procedures later, and I could breathe again. During the hospital stay I also found out I was a diabetic...had no idea, so now in less than two weeks, I've gone from thinking I was perfectly fine, to having my health go down the tubes..lol That's no joke, I had enough tubes and lines hooked up to me I looked like something out of the The Matrix. The times they are a changin' though, just ask my wife who's glad I survived so she can remind me she told me to go the hospital three days before I did every day for the rest of our lives.

The blood clot thing may be genetic according to the doc, my dad has had some bad experiences with blood clots, but nothing this severe. All in all, I just want to thank you all very much for everything. You are truly my friends and I felt the power of the SKMB all week long.

Spidey, thank you so much for the card ma'am. That was very nice to open when I got home this evening. I have no adequate words, but thank you.

Flake, thank you so much for the check ins and messages. It was very kind of you to take time out of your busy life to listen to me blather on while I was sitting in a very boring room, not able to do much while they tried to make sure I kept improving.

DJ, as always, thanks for the well wishes, the kicks in the ass, and the humor. You and Flake kept me laughing all week, no matter how badly it hurt...lol I owe you both a debt I'll most likely never be able to repay, but if the chance arises, you can damn well bet I'll ante up.

Thank you all, you are an amazing group of people. Shannon.
Welcome home! I'm so glad you're on the mend......even if you are a dang Razorback fan :biggrin2:

There's nothing like having your 5'6 wife look up at you, eyes blazing, while poking you repeatedly in the chest with her finger as she accentuates every word "THE NEXT TIME I MAKE A CALL THAT YOU DON'T SEEM TO BE BREATHING VERY WELL, YOU WILL GO TO THE HOSPITAL, WITHOUT PROTEST AND WITHOUT FURTHER DISCUSSION!!!"

Gulp.....yes ma'am. Sometimes I wish she didn't have the EMT training, it's quite annoying.

Same with me 'n' the heart attack. Folks, if there's something wrong, don't waste time. Here's the operative phrase:

Time is tissue.

I haven't been here much to keep up on the fine people here. Just so much going on so many places. So glad to hear you pulled through your event and am on the mend again. Best to you.

How's it going with adjusting to the new normal, dietary changes, etc.? Still doing what the doctor ordered? Because otherwise, don't make me come down there, young man!!
Yes ma'am. Complete, absolute, unquestioning compliance to dietary changes and doc's orders, lest I incur the wrath of my better half. She has become a diabetic food guru and overall just a walking fact book for diabets in general..lol.....Got some kidney damage apparently that's causing some issues and according to doc, it's still not under control, but doc thinks that kidney functions will even off as my blood sugar gets under control. If it doesn't could be looking at dialysis for a while but that's a ways out, at least three months. They said a three month baseline is what they need to get a good idea of progress. I'm just taking orders and doing exactly as I'm told by the docs, I figure they know best in this kind of thing. The blood thinner meds are getting rid of the clots...slowly. Still got a place on right side of chest that's kind of tight when I breath deeply but at yesterday's appointment, doc said that's normal for such serious pulmonary embolisms such as I had. Said it could take months for it to ease up but not a big deal. Every doc I've had an appointment with has said how fortunate I am to be walking around and not deceased..lol. Apparently pulmonary embolisms are dangerous??? Who knew??;)...lol

Slow and steady, but sticking with it is key. I had no doubt Tamara would be keeping you on track but glad to hear it confirmed. Not something you ever would have wanted to go through, no doubt, but in a way you were given a gift as these are changes that will make for a much healthier life in the long run once you get the residual issues under control.

Thank you for the well wishes, Ms. Mod, I very much appreciate it. I hope you and yours are doing well ma'am.

If only I could! I tried bringing back some of the dry heat from AZ and it worked the first couple of days after I got home but it's back to reality now.
Spring time is lovely here in Arkansas, if you like it rainy, steamy, humid, and don't mind being mauled by mosquitoes the second you leave your house...lol
