staropeace I am so sorry that happened.

I wanted to post a bit of an update on my cousin’s great granddaughter. She is quite the little miracle. They’ve been having a bit of difficulty with some tube because it is a tiny bit to small for her, but she’s not big enough for the next size. That’s a good sign....she’s growing.

Today they took out her picc(?) line. Apparently she hasn’t needed it for a while, but they were leaving it in so it would be there if she needed surgery. They feel confident enough they removed it.

A few days ago a local tv station went in to film her and interview her parents. A link should be on their website soon. It would be OK to post that here for anyone who would like to see it? Assuming anyone wants to see it?
...love to hear good news!...and a "PICC" line is just an acronym for "Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter"....usually in an arm and makes it so much simpler to administer meds and get blood draws...much less trauma to the patient....

I can understand why they would have been keeping it in even if they were not needing it. She said something about putting fluid through to keep it open.

Paizlee went in for heart surgery an hour ago.

She has an hemangioma by the side of her nose. (Some people call it a birth mark. Big red blistery looking thing.) It has grown to big for such a tiny baby and if they take out her breathing tube they need to be able to put a mask on her and the hemangioma will prevent that. Treatment for it is a beta blocker, which can affect the heart. So they can not wait....they have to fix her heart.

Good news....over the weekend she gained weight. Got up over 800 gm. And last night, they took a family picture. Her dad is there a lot, but I think he’s been a bit scared to hold her. I can understand that.

Wow - she has gained over 320 grams - almost doubling her birth weight (had to go back to May 4th to check on original post). Good luck and healing vibes that all will go well with the surgery.

AnnaMarie So happy to hear all went well with Paizlee and hope she continues to do well.

Harley Wench will keep Lori in my prayers - please keep us posted about her.

Friends - my girl, Elise, needs some prayers. She's been through a tough year and a recent test could reveal the issue and maybe some peace of mind. Please pray for Elise (Fur Elise: she was named for this Beethoven piece, and the Cure song, and we call her Elly for Laura Dern's character in Jurassic Park). Merci!
