I listen to this book a few weeks ago. I was unsure if I wanted to post about it or not. I am unsure how I felt about it. As a whole I like it. I thought it was ride of a simple kind. I almost saw it like Jake let his end goal to stop Oswald take over everything. In life you got to slow down and live and be happy and have more then one driving goal. You can have both. He did slow down.
I kind of wanted to know more about the yellow card man. I found them odd and cool and just wanted to know more about them. Has for the ending. The whole end of the world did not bother me. Who is to say if he didn't die if the world would not end up like that. Sort of like today saying if center someone did not come in to office everyone else be better off. What could of happen in one world may not happen in another...bleah off topic.
What I took from this book other then a wonderful story, is in a world so curl and miss up. In times of uneasy. When doom may be looming over your head or in your heart. Take a moment to breath to hear music in your head and dance. You may have no answers to anything but you can still shine and dance.

I so loved this book. It may be my second favorite SK book of all time--that's how much I liked it. I really loved that King went beyond the basic plot and had these subplots that coexisted until they all culminated in the end. This was so different from any other SK book I have ever read that it opened my eyes to the fact that he's not just a good horror writer but he's a fabulous writer, period. I also realized another thing after reading 11/22/63: that SK's books have never really been about horror--although the horror books are fabulous just like everything else he has written. What I love the most is the relationships. They just come to life. In every King book I have ever read (even the ones that weren't on my top 10 list), I have cared deeply about the people and that's because his books really ARE about relationships (if you ask me and what do I know--LOL).

I do really love what you said about taking the time out of an adventure like that and enjoying the journey. Isn't that what that famous quote is about after all? :) "The Journey is the Destination." That quote has always hit home. It's one of the (few) wonderful things about aging: You learn, at last, what is most important in life. In 2017, it's time and people. I don't give a crap about diamonds (never did like 'em anyway) or a fancy car. I have absolutely everything I need or want: a husband whom I adore (and who adores me), a home where I'm safe and warm, enough money to live a comfortable existence (years of working), and my favorite thing, which is our library filled with books. I have an entire bookshelf devoted to the awesome Mr. King. It's my one real prize possession. I'll leave it to my nephew who has become (at age 13) total fan when I introduced him to his first book. And yes, it was The Stand.

I'm glad he's a compulsive writer. :) (and I wish I was--though I have a great idea I'm working on now. Shhhhhhhhhhh! ;-)

Oh and Happy New Year, everyone. I meant to stop by to say Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas but I had been lost (in translation? somewhere) this Holiday season, as it was the first since my mom's passing. :( I miss her a lot.

But I've got my arms wide open to embrace 2018. Cheers!

I will take those pesky diamonds off your hands - would you like me to PM you my address? =D:m_starstruck::m_smooth:

Yeah - that is my birthstone for April,:m_bigwink: but you hit the nail on the head with your comments. He is such a great writer and I loved 11/22/63!
