Hello,

I am HerbziKal. I have only recently discovered this forum and have been waiting oh so patiently for the message boards to open again!! I am very excited to explore, chat and get involved :D

Here is a short intro for me (most questions nabbed from TheDarkTower.org!):

Do you have a nickname? Herb, Kal.

Where are you from? England, UK

D.O.B? 17th Sept 1991

How did you discover Stephen King?
My mum was always a huge fan of his books, so I have always been aware of him as an author since I was young. I first got into King through the films (Green Mile, Rose Red, the original IT) arguably at far to young an age to have watched them XD When I was older I red The Green Mile and IT, and I was hooked. My favourite books are those on the Dark Tower.

How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I have strong particularly strong memories as a kid of my mum pining for the next Dark Tower book release. After reading The Green Mile and IT I thought it was about time I found out what all my mum's fuss over the DT books was about. I bought the DT audiobooks, read by the amazing Frank Muller (2-4) and George Guidall (1, 5, 6 & 7). I have listened to them on near repeat (along with a certain fantasy series mainly involving Ice and Fire) since the start of my PhD, which has found me looking down a microscope for hundreds and hundreds of hours with my ears free.

Who is your favorite (Dark Tower) character?
Of the White? Eddie Dean / Cuthbert Allgood for sure, they are so similar it is hard to pick- but perhaps Cuthbert has the edge. May be boring to some- but it's true. If I am honest though, I do often find myself drawn towards the characterisations and personalities of those who serve the Red, Eldred Jonas being at the top of the pile of fantastic dark characters.

What is your favorite (Dark Tower) book?
Again with my indecisiveness, but it has to be either Book 2 or Book 4. Book 4 is such a fantastic story, with the metropolitan start and the old-west middle. It is satisfying, insightful, and incredibly bitter-sweet with a great setting, arch and characters. Of all the books I find this one evokes the most varied and strongest emotional responses from me. Also it contains Cuthbert of course. In terms of the books focusing on the main plot, Book 2 will always stick with me as a special one. While elements of other books form particular highlights, the entirety of Drawing stands out to me as amazing. Also it was the first book that truly got me hooked on Roland and his quest, so I feel I owe it my great thanks.

Okay, that's enough about me. Thank you for having me :)

Hello all! Thank you for my warm welcome :) I will pass the compliments onto my mum as well- I have never never received a compliment for her online that was meant sincerely XD

I mainly created an account in order to share my pet theory on the Dark Tower books and get the opinion of the experts! It is pretty complicated, but I have attempted to make it actually fit in with what we know from the books, and I haven't seen it suggested elsewhere that I know of. I'll have to make a thread in the DT forum, so if you are a fan of the series please do head over there and let me know what you think :) Especially let me know if there are any problems with it or inconsistencies with what we know from the books. Oh, and if there are any Dark Tower Lore experts that are well known in the forums, please give them the heads up that a newbie is looking for critique!

Looking forward to hearing everyone's Dark Tower opinions!

Herb.
