You were (are) right. Here's the line: "He was Jess Rider, age twenty, one year younger than Our Heroine, Little Fran."She's 21, I think. She mentions (or we are told in her thoughts) being a year older than Jess in the very beginning. But yeah, that could account for the annoying-ness!

But i liked her behaviour, when she and Harold (the Person i detest the most from the first time her appears) met Stu for the first time.

LOL...I got a kick out of these too. As I was drawing the names from the cup I was grinning. Coolallosaurus and osnafrank got the exact people they hate. I think it's cool how Spidey got Tom...both of them are the sweetest, gentlest people. Time for you to strum that guitar, Do-ya. Ha. You're absolutely right. I can't edit it but consider it done. I'll add your name to final drawing.
From that point onward Leo is seldom mentioned in the novel and mostly drops out of the narrative. He is mentioned as still living with Lucy in Boulder the spring after the plague.
….just a couple of final thoughts before I go Pokerize somebody....Fran has her annoying moments, but what kid at that age didn't?.....she had to grow up quick, and I think for the most part-she managed.....as to her Mom-the love was there, but filtered through the lens of her own unhappiness.....Dad even said as much...
Yeah, that's true. I'm not a parent but I'm guessing some of a parent's fears for their child can (in the heat of an argument) manifest as anger.
Agreed! I love the bit where he talks about them going to a ball game and having some beers, then she would fuss at him because she missed the game waiting for the bathroom.
I can't imagine (nor do I want to imagine) losing a child. Some people handle it with grace and I am always awed by them. Some people handle it like Fran's mom. Both deserve much more than we can offer for comfort.
