I'm not sure about the scene between
Roland and Sylvia Pittston
.....I thought of that one as well, but anybody with access to cable television networks can see worse, at any time of day.....I'm not saying to chuck monitoring what your teen reads, only that there is much worse as close as their inevitable cell phone.....and as long as Mom is tandem reading, that should go a long way in ameliorating the "rough sex" factor....and might spark a discussion on how women and men should treat one another.....there's certainly precious little true relationship advice out there, or conflict resolution....

I would say yes, with two caveats. The prose is more literary than the prose in his other books. The young reader might find it somewhat over his or her head. And it is definitely intended for adults.
However, my daughter read Los de abajo (The Underdogs), a novel about the Mexican Revolution when she was in third grade. So you never know.
