Has anybody read this? Is it any good? This has to be the first time another author has written something set in King's universe without any involvement from King, right?

I haven't read this one yet, but I have other books written by Richard Chizmar, and liked them. He's a pretty good writer.
I personally thought GMF was better than Button Box.
I think the fact that Richard Chizmar was the co-author of Gwendy's Button Box provided insight into keeping the characters and story intact as he already was involved in their creation, not just Steve. I liked it a lot and enjoyed being able to find out what happened to Gwendy after her experiences from Gwendy's Button Box.
