Dear Stehpen King,

Duma Key is the 1st time you made me laugh right out, but not the 1st time you've touched my heart. Thank you. Read 'Joyland' (love it) , now am 1/2 way done reading 'Duma Key' (more love) ... must get back to reading it, right now.

Plus, I've read 2 more Lee Child's, 'Reacher' series.

Steve, feel like we grew up separately together, in a way. The odd kid on our block who actually likes to read & hang out w/ my brothers a lot. Sometimes when not much was going on we'd talk. It's as if I know you from the neighborhood, when we liked scary stories, but felt safe. Does that make sense? Is that what most people feel?

That was the first book in a very long time to actually make me gasp while reading (the first time I read it). After reading so much for so many years, it's hard to surprise me (lol). Very good book!

I think that feeling you get from Mr. King is exactly why he has so many devoted, passionate readers: most of us feel like he's a personal friend. That gift is beyond price--not many writers accomplish what he does, though many try.

I just love the whole environment, surroundings, people and atmosphere of that book. Every time I open it and embark on another reading, to me, it's just like coming home. All of my dearest friends are there again and the Key is there waiting to be explored all over again.

I literally HAVE to read it or listen to it once a year to get my fix. I have always said that The Talisman and It were historically my favorite SK books. Duma is right up there along side those. Might be 1A, 1B, and 1C.

I wish frequently that it was possible for me to read Duma Key for the first time over and over again. I love it that much.

Not as often, but it may be possible to have a "semi-first time" at least once again. I re-read it after years and I had forgotten enough details and even events from the final third of the book that it was new to me again.

Of course, the more you kno the story the more difficult this new first times will be to come... :a17:
