Hanukkah 2017 will begin in the evening of Tuesday, December 12 and ends in the evening of Wednesday, December 20.

Just thought I'd start an equal opportunity thread for Hanukkah. I'm not Jewish but last year we did light a menorah each night of Hanukkah with the appropriate prayers and it was a lovely experience.

The owner of the company is Jewish. I've learned a lot over the years. We have mezuzahs on the thresholds of our doors in the office.

Thank you for the reminder, CYB! I have several Jewish friends and always try to remember to wish them a blessed holiday. This years is early--I hadn't even checked the date yet and likely wouldn't until mid Dec..

Just curious--do you also celebrate Advent with the candles/wreath? If so, how did the two traditions either compliment each other or clash?

Interesting question. The simple answer is "no." For some reason we never had one in the house growing up; not even an advent calendar. We do have the advent wreath at church though.

PlayMobil make the best advent calendars. Quality stuff. We have gotten one every year for the past 21 years. We still get one each year because the kids continue to enjoy them. Unfortunately the cats do to.

Yes, but here in the US Kurben the "holidays" are already getting into full swing. Commercials on TV, decorations in some stores, Salvation Army out on the street, etc.
