To all our "moms"-- may your day be special and joyful.

A mother is a protector, disciplinarian and friend. A mother is a selfless, loving human who must sacrifice many of their wants and needs for the wants and needs of their children. A mother works hard to make sure their child is equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to make it as a competent human being.

I was just going to ask if we share a Mother's Day... I should remember this after all these years!
(Arghhhhh, I want to get off the I'm-getting-old ride. It sucks and the benefits are bullsh*t. Actually, strike that. The alternative's not that great either)

Happy Mother's Day lovely mothering people, I hope that someone you love, loves you back. xox

R.I.P. Mom.

When my Ma died I spoke to the priest who asked me questions about my Moms life, so he had grist for the mill when he did the service. One of the things I mentioned was my Mom having a bad accident on a horse when I was a wee lad. She broke several bones and was in the hospital for quite a while (could've been just a few days I was too little to judge time correctly).

The priest was a pretty old guy but did a beautiful service except for one thing, which I kept mum about. My mom died from a long bout of Cancer. Later that evening, with relatives and friends present, I said "Was it just me or did the priest say that Mom died from a horse accident?" Everyone heard the same thing and the powerful laughter that was released in that room that night was refreshing and brought us all a little bit closer together.
